Congratulations to our grand champion Ranch Riding Buckle Series winner Teri Brandt and her mare Capri. Teri and JJ Marie we separated by 1 point coming into today. JJ took Reserve Champion!!

All of our riders did a terrific job competing. We are so proud of their accomplishments.

Thanks to all our auditors for braving the heat and staying for lunch and watching the riders compete.

A huge thank you goes to Bobbi Berry for sponsoring this incredible buckle for the series. This buckle was hand crafted by the beyond talented Kiyo Taylor of @horsecampdesignstudio Countless design hours went into this work of art.

We will be posting more pictures and videos in the up coming days and weeks to recap a fantastic clinic season.

Clinic is today Saturday May 14 from 8-11 am with a break for lunch and pattern #9 review with Lanny then the buckle series final competition will begin.

We will present the winner with the gorgeous handmade designed buckle by the incredible @horsecampdesignstudio Kiyo Taylor and sponsored by Bobbi Berry. We are so grateful to be able to offer this ranch riding series to our wonderful riders and auditors.

Unlimited auditors welcome $20/person. Coffee and donuts and lunch provided today.

The Lanny Leach Ranch Riding Clinic Buckle series #9 is this Saturday, May 14.

This clinic has 2 openings.

Location: Crazy Hearts Ranch
13433 N Como Drive
Tucson, Az 85755

The fee is $130.

You will ride from 8 am to 11 am working on Horsemanship and a Ranch Riding pattern to apply the horsemanship fundamentals.

There will be a one hour lunch break.

(Lunch will be provided for auditors and riders)

Enjoy the time to visit and get to know riders and auditors!!

At 12 pm each rider will do the pattern that was worked on in the morning clinic for points.

The final points will be tallied.

The Champion Buckle will be presented and other awards given.

Remember....waivers must be signed for each clinic before entering the arena.

***Unlimited Auditors are welcome. We love having you come!! $20/person to audit (also bring your lunch) and waivers must be signed as well prior to clinic starting.

Coffee, donuts, hot chocolate, fruit, gatorade and water begin at 7 am.

Clinic will begin at 8 am and finish at 11 am due to the heat. Come early for donuts and coffee.

Unlimited auditors welcome for $20/person.

Clinic will be held at Crazy Hearts Ranch in Northwest Tucson.

Lanny and I had a great evening supporting Jamie Williams of @thatgirljw for the screening of her 5 minute documentary Mustang Moments. The film was accepted into the 30th Arizona International Film Festival. It was great to see the documentary on the big screen. It’s about the inmates of the Wild Horse Inmate Program and how they are rebuilding their lives by participating in the rehabilitation program training wild horses for adoption.

These individuals are then given a chance to participate in the Leach Colt Starting Academy post release. Lanny has been working with several of the guys in mini day clinics to keep expanding their knowledge of working with horses and mustangs and potentially growing their passion into their own training business and learning how to expand their clientele and continue to settle into a new life outside the prison.

More to come with the Leach Colt Starting Academy.

A big thank you to The Mustangs of America Foundation for your continued support and help in creating scholarships for the guys and providing tack and other essentials and accepting donations to help the Wild Horse Inmate Program. We are so thankful for your support.

I learned a lot and built my confidence at Lanny Leach’s Trail Obstacles and Confidence Builder Clinic March 6. Because of past horse accidents my confidence level is low, but I pushed past my fear and signed up for Lanny’s Clinic. And I’m glad I did! Seeing how my mare reacted to spooky obstacles and with Lanny’s teaching and help to navigate made me realize I can ride her through these scarey situations. I’ll be taking more Clinics for sure!
I love riding with Lanny Leach!!! I’m signed up for his trouble shooting clinic.... if I don’t have someone’s troubled horse during this time frame I can take one of yours!
Yesterday, our Veterans got an extra special field trip. We ventured to Medella Vina Ranch to learn from Lanny Leach Horsemanship. Lanny Leach is a nationally known horseman and clinician who builds horse knowledge, confidence, and intuition on the ground and in the saddle. Our Veterans and staff had a great time and learned helpful techniques to work into their therapeutic riding sessions!
My mic was muted, but Lanny is so awesomely "expressive" :) lol ! Earls lesson at Gentlemen's Acres, working on his "stops" Translation = "You are arched in your back, as you pulled back, and pulled your elbows way back...you wanna sit deep, round your back first, thenn gently pull back, whoaaaaaa, not this, arched back..." Lanny thinks a minute..then says.. "You ever see that cartoon! The slow and slouchy Turtle? Walks like this?? (Lol..Lanny..that was priceless) You wanna stay rounded, not arched,"..then Lanny stops.. turns and points to me.." you get that on film??!" I'm laughing.."yes" unbeknownst my mic was muted :( lol. Earl trots off, goes for another stop.. Lanny demonstrating the horses movements.. And then? What do you think he said with the pointing jestures?? I'll let you all decide! ;) Goes to show, body language, and demonstration, not just with words is very very useful and extremely effective! :) Enjoy!
