Reiki animal healing, as other alternative therapies is now being applied to animals for disease treatment and general wellness. Reiki animal practitioners can be found in many countries now. Many veterinarians use Reiki as a support in addition to conventional veterinary medicine.

What is Animal Reiki
Animal Reiki is a spiritual practice of compassion for all beings. In a nutshell, “doing” Reiki for animals simply means learning to meditate with your animals. The practices of Reiki help us navigate our life’s challenges with grace while we to learn to listen to and be present for others in a compassionate space. Compassion is the ultimate healer.

Animal Reiki for Cats & Small Animals

Cats, fish, and small animals can benefit so much from the healing power of Reiki! As with all animals, the key to success and healing is in your approach. I always let animals lead the Reiki session. They’re already very sensitive and wise in the language of energy, so they won’t need physical touch to benefit (but they might ask for it). ❤️😀🐇🐕🐢🦅🐯

Reike enhances overall well-being.
Just like people, even healthy pets can have occasional physical, emotional and mental imbalances that, if left untreated, can manifest as illness. Periodic Reiki treatments can help maintain your pet’s natural state of well-being and balance.
Strengthens the immune system for cancer therapies.
Cancer therapies such as chemotherapy and radiation present stress to an already compromised immune system. Reiki strengthens the immune system to better deal with this additional stress. It helps alleviate or prevent the side effects of conventional cancer treatments and provides pain relief.
Accelerates healing following surgery or illness.
Reiki can alleviate and prevent side effects of conventional medications such as pain killers and antibiotics, and provides pain relief and relaxation to facilitate and enhance the body’s natural healing response.
Increases trust and bonding between you and your pet.
People and pets often mirror each others’ physical and emotional states. Animals are natural healers and sometimes take on their person’s problems, often in an attempt to heal them. This happens because of the deep bond shared between a pet and his or her person. Because of the shared energy in such a close relationship, energetic imbalances are shared as well. For optimum healing, joint treatments for people and their pets can often be beneficial.
Can help with behavior issues by promoting relaxation and stress reduction.
Many behavior issues are caused by stress. Reiki has a calming effect on the pet and may help make the pet more receptive to training and behavior modification. Reiki is extremely beneficial for animals with a history of abuse. The gentle touch and the energy can help restore trust in animals who have learned to associate touch with being hurt.
Provides comfort and relieves pain, anxiety and fear for terminally ill animals.
Reiki is a wonderful way to facilitate the transition for terminally ill animals and their owners. Often, animals will not allow themselves to transition because they intuitively feel that their person is not ready to let them go. Joint Reiki treatments for the pet and his or her person can help both through this difficult time by enhancing the bond and allowing a gentle transition.

What does light, air, energy, wind, gravity, spirit or God have in common?
These are all things that we cannot see.
How do we know they exist?
We observe their effects.

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) energy healing is a gentle, painless, yet powerful modality that works on animals and humans alike.

Reiki can be used in conjunction with all other holistic medical or therapeutic techniques as well as with traditional medical treatments to relieve side effects and promote recovery. It is a common misconception that Reiki energy is just for sick or injured animals. While Reiki energy can be used on a sick or injured animal, it can also be used as a preventative to any potential illness or ailment or to maintain the general well-being of a dog. Reiki sessions can also be done at any time of day or night.

Before selecting a Reiki practitioner, you would need to determine whether an in-person or remote healing session would be best for your animal. Of note is that Reiki can be done remotely only by a level three Reiki Master. To become a Reiki Master you first need to be attuned by an existing Reiki Master, learn all of the activation symbols and practice for many months or years to get comfortable and confident with the process.

However, a level one or level two Reiki practitioner can provide in-person, hands-on healing. Because Reiki consists of the same Universal Life Energy that makes every living thing alive, any living thing can be helped by Reiki energy. Reiki works throughout the body and each chakra to create a positive energy flow and remove any energy blockages that may exist.

Chakras exist throughout the body and are sometimes referred to as the main energy centers in the body. Chakra is a Sanskrit word which means "wheel of light". Humans have seven main chakras. Animals have the same seven chakras plus one additional chakra known as the brachial chakra.

During a Reiki healing session, the animal may become very relaxed and sometimes will fall asleep. Other times, the animal will become invigorated and energized after the session has concluded. Each animal will react in a way that the Reiki energy best suits them. A Reiki energy session can be as short as five or ten minutes in length or as long as an hour or more. The length of the session depends on how much healing the animal feels it needs.

Once the animal has absorbed all of the energy it feels it needs, it will walk away. Often, in my experience, before walking away, the animal will give me a sign of affection as a way to say, "Thank you". This has usually taken the form of a 'nose nuzzle', 'love lick' or 'love nibble'. Of course, I miss out on all the wonderful animal nuzzles, licks of affection and nibbles if I’m providing the Reiki session remotely.

When I perform an in-person Reiki session, I will ask the client to have their animal in their most relaxing or favorite room. I want to make sure their animal is comfortable, relaxed and familiar with their surroundings. They don’t need to hold their animal in place or force them to stay on a bed or table. The Reiki energy will flow throughout their animal no matter where they are in the room. Often, they will lie beside me and allow me to gently move or place my hands over various parts of their body.

Reiki energy can be given to your animal in regularly scheduled intervals or as needed. Because it is a gentle and non-invasive energy modality, it can be used safely with any animal no matter the age, size or breed.

Using Reiki as a complimentary therapy at a veterinarian’s office is an excellent way to help ease the increased stress level your animal may experience while at the office. Reiki can also help your animal heal emotionally and physically from any treatments that may have to be performed once you return home. If your animal has had surgery, Reiki can help the overall healing process.

Another practical use for Reiki is to assist with separation anxiety that an animal may experience when you’re away from home and they’re left at home or boarded away from their home. Many of my clients use my Reiki services in this fashion, even if their animal is doing well otherwise. As a side benefit, knowing that their animal is calm while they are away, it helps ease the mind of the human companion while they’re traveling. When they arrive home, they find their animal to be well-adjusted and at ease. No longer do they worry about the animal's routine being changed or any unexpected behaviors transpiring while they’re away.

Providing Reiki on a regular basis for your animal will help your animal stay emotionally, mentally and physically strong and happy.

Please keep in mind that Reiki is typically used as a complimentary therapy and is not a substitute for veterinary care if your animal is sick or injured.

What is Reiki or Spiritual Healing?

Reiki is spiritual energy that promotes healing. "Spiritual life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be spiritual alive. If one's "spiritual life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "spiritual life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
