🐾 Why I Started Morse’s House And Animal Sitting ❤️
I’ve always had a love for animals, but starting my own animal-sitting business was about much more than simply wanting to spend my days around them.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to care for so many different animals, each with their own personality, routines, quirks, and needs. I’ve learned that caring for animals is something I genuinely enjoy and something I take seriously.
I wanted to create something of my own where I could take that experience and turn it into something meaningful for both animals and their owners.
I know how hard it can be to leave your animals behind. Whether you're going on vacation, working long hours, dealing with an unexpected situation, or simply need someone to help with their daily routine, there can be that little voice in the back of your head wondering:
“Are they okay?”
“Did they eat?”
“Do they have enough water?”
“Are they getting the attention they need?”
I wanted to be the person who could help take some of that worry away.
For me, animal sitting isn't just showing up, putting food down, and walking out the door. It's paying attention to the little things. It's learning their routines. It's noticing when something seems different. It's giving medications when needed, making sure water is fresh, providing exercise and enrichment, keeping their environment cared for, and most importantly, making sure they feel comfortable and cared for while their people are away.
One of my favorite parts of this job is getting to know each animal as an individual. I want to know the little things—their favorite treats, their routines, what makes them nervous, what makes them happy, and all of their funny little quirks.
Because those little details are what make them, them. ❤️
Sometimes building that relationship takes time. Some animals are immediately excited to see you, while others need patience before they're comfortable enough to trust you. And honestly, those moments when an animal who was once nervous finally comes up to you, accepts a treat, lets you put their leash on, or simply chooses to sit beside you are some of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
I also wanted to build something based on trust and communication.
When someone gives me access to their home and trusts me with animals that are part of their family, I don't take that responsibility lightly. I want my clients to know that I'm not just there to complete a checklist. I'm there to actually pay attention to their animals and their needs.
I wanted to provide the kind of care where owners can leave knowing their animals aren't simply being checked on—they're being cared for. 🐾
I've also learned that running a small business isn't always easy. There are long days, unexpected situations, scheduling challenges, and plenty of behind-the-scenes work that people don't always see.
But then I walk through a door and get greeted by a happy dog.
A nervous animal finally trusts me enough to come closer.
A horse comes running up because it knows it's feeding time. 😂
A cat decides I'm finally worthy of attention.
Or I get a message from an owner saying they feel comfortable knowing their animals are in good hands.
Those moments make it worth it.
What started as an idea has grown into something I'm genuinely proud of. I'm incredibly grateful for every client who has trusted me, every animal I've had the privilege of caring for, and everyone who has supported my small business along the way.
Every booking, recommendation, share, review, and kind message has helped me continue building something that means so much to me.
I'm excited to keep growing, keep learning, keep meeting new animals, and continue providing the same patience, attention, and genuine care that made me want to start this business in the first place. ❤️
