"Iโm Cheddar and Iโm full of orange kitty love!"
This sweet boy is laid back and quiet. Heโll be shy at first, but warms right up to love and head massages! His eyes say it all.
Super sweet and handsome, if you're looking for a laid back boy, heโll no doubt be your snuggle buddy before long! He prefers a quieter home life. Heโd do purrrfectly fine with another friendly cat but might be bullied a little by very active cats. Dogs are a bit too loud for this boy. Kids would be fine if they respected his need to warm up to your home. This boy is a sure gem! ๐
Cheddar is FIV/FELV neg, fixed and vaxxed. Indoor Only!

Important info! We recently were contacted by a community member who threatened to โdisposeโ of some feral cats being fed by a neighbor. These cats had already been sterilized!
Besides the upsetting/unsettling threat of ILLEGAL CRUELTY-this post also explains why lethal methods are ineffective at controlling free roaming populations. If you โdisposeโ of them or relocate them, 10 more will show up in their place. This is why TNR is not only the humane solution but the most effective solution to peacefully living with unowned cats.
A vacuum occurs when a population is removed from an area, opening the territory for outsiders to take advantage of it's resources. Some people believe that if you remove cats from an area (catch and kill), you will solve the problem. What they don't realize is that the resources in that area (food and shelter, for example) remain and will attract other cats from neighboring areas to take advantage of those resources.
Why don't we just catch and euthanize the cats in an area rather than TNR them? Because "catch and kill" doesn't work to solve the community cat population problem. Plus, killing otherwise healthy cats is inhumane.
Cats are territorial, so when you remove cats from a territory (when you "catch and kill"), new cats will move in to take advantage of the resources available in that territory. Those cats will also need to be captured, and the cycle will continue to no end. The better solution is to TNR the cats already in the area and let them defend their space against newcomers.
Exterminating community cats does not work to control the cat population. The only proven method is TNR -- and it happens to be the only HUMANE way as well. Support TNR in your community!

Operation Snip was started by former Troy City Council President, Lynn Kopka, in March of 2012. What began as a Trap-Neuter-Return program for feral cats living throughout Troyโs abandoned buildings and alleyways, it has morphed into providing loving homes to friendly cats & kittens also found on the streets.
Our adoptable cats are available through a number of cat adoption groups. If you wish to give a cat a forever home, many of our cats go to Whiskers in Albany and Noahโs Kingdom, or check the clinics at Healthy Pet Center, Petco and PetSmart. You can also send us a message if youโd like to adopt a cat featured on our page! There are so many wonderful cats looking for a home that you will certainly find just the right cat for you and your family.
We operate solely by donation and fundraisers. If you would like to donate:
Donations to Operation Snip can be made through the Washington Park Association of Troy, N.Y. Please write the checks payable to: โFriends of Washington Park.โ You must write โSnipโ in the memo.
