With the winter storm moving in, here’s a quick reminder of what most of us do when the power goes out. These are simple, real‑world steps that help keep temps stable until things come back on.

• Wrap enclosures with blankets or towels to hold heat
• Keep the reptile room closed off as much as possible
• Use heat packs on the outside of enclosures — never directly on the animal
• Hold off on feeding until everything is warm again
• Move your tropical species to the warmest room first
• If you’re stuck for a long stretch, your car heater can be a safe backup spot

Everyone handles outages a little differently, but these basics go a long way. If you’ve got a trick that’s helped you in past storms, feel free to share it — someone else might need it tonight.
