Here at CHS we are bewildered that Hudson hasn't found his forever home yet. 😔Our Volunteer Coordinator, Aria, wrote this beautiful "heart letter" to Hudson's future family.🥹🐾 We know they are out there!
"This has been a really hard heart letter to write because if I could, I’d take Hudson home myself. When he gets adopted, a part of me will be so jealous that someone else is getting the perfect dog. But that’s selfish of me, because if any dog deserves a wonderful, loving, home, it’s Hudson.
I, of course, don’t mean perfect in that he never gets a little jumpy or doesn’t try to steal food off the counter, but I mean if you think of a quintessential dog, the qualities that make a dog great, he has them: Loyalty, affection, brains, charm the whole package. Once when a dog walker fell on a walk, Hudson stayed by her side until help came. Hudson was so named because he has it all, just like an old film star.
Not only is he handsome (just look at that face) but he’s got the sweetest most sensitive gaze around. He’s a man who looks at you like he wants to listen for you for hours, like he wants to go where you ever you go, like he wants…well that last bite of your food, if he’s honest. He does great in the car, loves an adventure or a day in. During events or walking through crowds, he keeps his cool. But he can also get goofy, playful and exuberant. I could go on, but what I love about Hudson most is despite his movie star looks and wrestler muscles, he is a big baby. In fact, I once saw him jump about a foot in the air when a little old lady looked at him too fast!
He’s come a long way from when he first came to the shelter over a year ago. He was initially so terrified of people you couldn’t touch him, he’d just sit at the back of his kennel and look at you with that worried look of his. We had to get him used to crowds, to strangers, to just about everything. While he still tends to look a little worried, now he’s the type of guy who leans against you for scritches, who is an amazing front desk dog, and is content to nap at your feet at the end of the day. (And he lets me put little outfits on him which is really all I can ask for.)
In the shelter, I call Hudson my son. Like any mother, I know he can’t stay with me forever. I hope the people he spends the rest of his life with will appreciate all of him - his sweet personality, his big pittie head, the times where he needs some reminders of his training, and his potential with other dogs and mature kids. Most of all, I hope they come soon! Such an amazing dog deserves to start the rest of his life in a home that loves him, and not to spend another year in the shelter. Come meet Hudson today, you won’t regret it."❤️
