Lyssa is home after 2 days in Churchville, MD!
Lyssa broke their through the fence and took off.
Karen Lynn Robbins-Hundertmark reached out to Lost Animal Resource Group - LARG for help. We started coaching on posters and feeding stations but Karen wanted additional help immediately and First Response Drone Pet Search & Rescue got involved.
Bernie Hilditch brought his thermal drone out ASAP to search and either confirm a sighting or clear an area. While searching with the thermal drone, fireworks started going off, which, of course made it difficult to search and also probably scared her away a little bit. She was most likely hiding in the woods or under a car or deck until things quieted down.
Bernie stressed the importance of getting flyers out at least two miles especially with the impact of the fireworks.
Bernie set the trap up at the point of loss, home. Denise B Harris from Larg designed flyers (while on vacation) and they got them out by midday the next day.
Later in the afternoon a sighting came in in an adjacent neighborhood - (FROM THE POSTERS).
We coached about using calming techniques when approaching a lost scared dog. Ryan went to the sighting location and did just that. He got low, was calm, and allowed Llysa to circle around some trees and she came to him.
He moved slowly, not moving towards her but letting her see, hear and smell him until she recognized him.
She is sleeping soundly at home, tired from her adventure.
When dogs get out, we always try to coach on survival mode, which is what the dog is going through and how they are processing things along with calming signals, which is a method of getting your lost pet to come to you while not chasing them.
Also, if we haven’t mentioned lately, posters work. Posters are responsible for the majority of lost pets being reunited. Unfortunately, physical posters can be the thing that most people don’t do or wait too long to do. Posters bring sightings and sightings help bring the lost pet home.
First Response Drone utilizes K9 Search dogs, thermal drone technologies along with coaching, trapping and following through to give pet peer owners the best chance of getting their lost pet back !!!
