☀️ Too hot? So is your pet.

Pets don’t sweat like we do—so they overheat fast. Whether it’s a summer hike or just backyard play, stay alert to these heat warning signs:
● Heavy panting
● Drooling or dry gums
● Disorientation or vomiting
● Warm skin or fast heartbeat

Hydration and timing are key. Walk early or late. Shade over sunshine. Never leave pets in cars—even for minutes.

🐾 At Mountain Veterinary Service, we treat heatstroke cases every summer. Don’t wait till it’s urgent.

We will also be offering hats, tank tops, and racerbacks! (Long-sleeved shirts and hoodies are also available)

The racerbacks will have the SWDT logo on the front only, while the tanks will have the logo on the front and the option of putting "Do Not Pet the Dog, Training In Progress" or "Reactive Dog in Training, Do Not Pet" on the back.

HUGE Kudos to Faith!!

When she began training with us, her baseline anxiety was extremely high. She was skittish, highly reactive to unfamilar people, bicycles, dogs, cars, strange movements, sounds, etc., and unsure of herself.

She just finished her lesson package and WOW! We walked around the swimming pool (where people were at varying distances, making lots of sounds, running, splashing, bouncing balls), passed by unfamiliar people (within 5ft.), walked by a bicycle (approx 6ft.), and ended the session relaxing when a group of people sat next to us (about 10ft. away) and she remained regulated the entire time. Her body language was soft, she was communicating and attentive to us, and she even laid down to people-watch for quite a while.

She was so happy today, and that is what it is all about!!..Helping dogs process their anxiety, learn how to emotionally regulate, develop confidence, and communicate with their people is our goal and we are so incredibly proud of these guys!

This is Kiva!

She began training with us due to separation anxiety and fear reactivity- of people, sounds, dogs, etc. This would lead to lunging and barking out on a walk, inside at the door, and/or when guests would walk around.

We have made quite a lot of progress working on creating expectations and changing the emotional charge at the door, impulse control and emotional regulation, and with this last session we really focused on proper attention-seeking behaviors and helping her learn to be ok without attention and stimulation (relax). She is now happily observing Sarah walk around without feeling the need to bark or charge her!

Say, "Hello" to Floyd, Miley, and Roxy!

We began training initially just for Floyd. He would become overaroused outside and was play biting at his teenage siblings, chasing cars and runners, and became so hyper-focused he was difficult to get back.

During our first lesson, while we were working on some impulse control and self-regulation exercises, Roxy walked over and was clicking in with Sarah, so of course, we joined her in on the fun!

The family recently acquired Miley who is extremely sweet! She gets very pushy for attention, so we are helping build some spacial boundaries and are teaching her alternative ways to seek attention (and also how to be ok when we aren't giving her any attention at all).

We will continue building their impulse control, work on co- and self-regulation exercises, and develop some implied and compound cues.
