Who needs expensive pet store costumes when you have toddler clothes, donut cones, and folded paper?

When you run a rescue, every extra dollar goes directly to medical bills, specialized food, and hay—which means our Halloween costume budget is exactly $0.00.

But that didn't stop us from getting into the spooky spirit with our sanctuary residents and Miss Eclipse!

👗 Lola: Rocking actual human toddler clothes and looking like she's ready for her autumn photo shoot.

🌸 Miguel: Wearing a pink polka-dot flower cone... and instantly turning into a statue. (If you know Miguel, any new accessory makes him freeze completely! Error 404: Poodle rebooting 😂).

🎩 Eclipse: Wearing a custom paper boat hat folded by her foster dad out of sheet music. The spicy look on her face proves she was not impressed by her budget sailor outfit!

Our sanctuary dogs may have behavioral quirks that mean they live here forever, but moments like this remind us how sweet, funny, and resilient they really are. ❤️

Some days in rescue, the plan changes by the minute... and yesterday was definitely one of those days!

What started as routine neuter appointments for Boy and Brian quickly turned into transportation juggling, volunteer coordination, and an emergency intake involving two stray dogs.

One of the strays was seriously injured and understandably scared—and his loyal, XL-sized buddy never left his side, watching over him the entire time. 🥹

We are deeply grateful to Tonasket Veterinary Services and our Fur Ever Yours volunteers who dropped everything to step up and help. When animals need urgent care, our local veterinary partners always find a way, even with a packed schedule.

Now, we’re asking our village for a little help.

Between routine spays, neuters, and vaccines, our veterinary bills add up fast. And we aren't done yet—Gladys and Scruffy are scheduled for their spay surgeries next week!

🐾❤️ SOME DAYS IN RESCUE, PLANS CHANGE BY THE MINUTE! ❤️🐾

Today was definitely one of those days!

What started with Boy and Brian's neuter appointments turned into a whole lot of juggling, transportation coordination, and an unexpected emergency involving two stray dogs.

One was seriously injured and understandably frightened, while his loyal XL-sized friend stayed close by, looking out for him. ❤️

A HUGE THANK YOU to Tonasket Veterinary Services and our incredible Fur Ever Yours Dog Rescue volunteers for adjusting plans, stepping up, and making sure these dogs got the help they needed.

We're continually grateful for our local veterinary teams. Even with packed schedules, they somehow find room when an animal needs emergency care.

Did you know Halloween ranks as the second most common day of the year for lost pets?

Every single year, thousands of pets end up in the ER due to accidental chocolate ingestion, swallowed wrapper blockages, lit candles, or escaping through open doors. Pet chocolate poisoning costs: Chocolate-related illnesses are among the most expensive hazards, averaging $1,126 for dogs and $580 for cats per claim.

To keep your fur-babies safe this spooky season, our dapper crew—Squeeks, Boy, and Scruffy—dressed up in their festive best to share 4 CRITICAL Halloween Rules every pet owner needs to know!

🛑 THE 4 MUST-KNOW HALLOWEEN PET RULES 🛑
1️⃣ CHOCOLATE & XYLITOL ARE TOXIC: Keep all candy bowls completely out of reach. Xylitol (sugar-free sweetener) and dark chocolate can be fatal to dogs and cats.
2️⃣ WATCH THE FRONT DOOR: Constant trick-or-treaters mean open doors. Keep pets in a quiet, secure room with a white noise machine or soft music to prevent room-dashes.
3️⃣ MICROCHIP & ID TAGS: Ensure microchips are updated! If a spooked pet slips out, updated contact info is their ticket back home.
4️⃣ KEEP CATS & DOGS SAFE INSIDE: Dark-coated pets are hardest to spot in the dark by oncoming cars—and sadly face higher risks on Halloween night. Keep them indoors!

Boy — A sweet, gentle boy who came to us after his owner in Omak sadly passed away. Boy was neutered yesterday and did great! Thank you to Tonasket Veterinary Clinic for providing him with such excellent care. We are so fortunate to have veterinary partners who always treat our rescue dogs with compassion and kindness. (Adoption PENDING! )

Scruffy — Boy’s littermate, a darling black and white female Shih Tzu mix also rescued from Omak after losing her human. She's getting pampered and spayed next week and will be AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION SOON!

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FIND A LOST PET (Featuring Sweet BB!) 🐾
Finding a lost or stray animal can feel overwhelming, but taking the right steps quickly gives them the best chance of returning home safely!
Here’s the step-by-step checklist every pet lover should know:

UPDATE: 12:30 PM: Thank you to TOAR and local Chesaw neighbors for stepping up to help.

The injured black-and-white cattle dog has been safely secured and is currently being rushed to a veterinarian for evaluation. ❤️

The second dog, believed to be a Lab mix IS nearby. A kind property owner has been providing food and water while we continue working to bring him to safety.

No microchips detected on either dogs.

Somewhere, someone may be missing these dogs.

Two dogs were reportedly seen near Chesaw Cemetery, with their last known location in a ditch very close to the cemetery. One appears mostly black, the other black and white. The reporting party believes one may have a broken leg but was unable to get photos or safely approach them.

Whether they are lost, abandoned, or simply far from home, these dogs deserve a chance to be found. If they have a family looking for them, every moment matters. If they don't, they still deserve compassion and help.

Please keep an eye out if you're in the Chesaw area. Photos, exact locations, and direction of travel are incredibly helpful. Comment below or message our page with any sightings.

Five little lives saved... but their foster homes need a little extra love today.
It happened all at once. Sombra and Eclipse were saved from being sold on the street. Gentle Kitty was brought in out of the cold after surviving as a stray. Together with our sweet foster babies Maple and Willow, we suddenly have five precious girls recovering in our care!
Our foster families opened their arms and homes in an instant—and thanks to a kind donor, we do have 1 cat tree! But spread across 3 different neighborhood foster homes, our other foster parents have zero cat trees or scratchers for these sweet girls.
After everything Sombra, Eclipse, Kitty, Maple, and Willow have been through, we want to give them the cozy, safe, and happy environment they deserve while they heal. Cat trees, scratching posts, and fun toys aren't just extras—they give scared rescue cats comfort, confidence, and a place to finally feel safe.
