Rest easy, Dolly. Thank you for the music, and for everything else.

This one’s a special piece — my tribute to someone who’s been part of the soundtrack of my life. I grew up listening to Dolly Parton, sitting on the floor in my grandparents’ living room watching the Grand Ole Opry. She was a national treasure, and this knife was my way of honoring her legacy.

I made this a while back, and through a friend of a friend, Dolly actually saw it. She said she loved it and thought it was very creative. That still means more to me than I can put into words.

Tomorrow, Season 4 of Ted Lasso begins, and I couldn’t be more excited.

To celebrate, I made this one-of-a-kind Ted Lasso inspired knife.

If you know me, you know this isn’t just another TV show to me. I’ve watched the first three seasons at least five times, and every time I head to a knife show with my buddy Adam, he packs his Chromecast so we can wind down each night with a few episodes. It’s become part of the tradition.

On the surface, it’s a show about soccer. But it’s really a show about becoming a better human.

These are the seven lessons that have stuck with me the most:

💙 1. Be curious, not judgmental.
The darts scene is one of the greatest moments in television. It reminds us that most people are far more interesting than our first impression allows.

🐟 2. Be a goldfish.
We all make mistakes. Learn from them, then let them go and move forward.

🤝 3. Forgiveness sets you free.
Holding onto resentment only weighs you down. Grace is as much a gift to yourself as it is to someone else.

⚡ 4. Don’t settle for “fine.”
As Roy Kent said, you deserve someone who makes you feel like you’ve been struck by lightning.

🐶 5. We all need our own Diamond Dogs.
Real strength isn’t pretending you’ve got it all together. It’s having people you trust enough to be honest with. Someone once said, “Big boys don’t cry, but real men do.” I think Ted would agree.

🛋️ 6. Therapy isn’t weakness.
One of the show’s greatest messages is that asking for help isn’t failure—it’s courage. None of us have to carry everything alone.

💛 7. Believe.
Believe in yourself. Believe in others. Believe that hope is worth holding onto, even when life gets hard.

I’m looking forward to seeing where Season 4 takes us.

Until then…

Believe. 💙💛

Headed to Arkansas for the Natural State Knife Show, and the trip wouldn’t be complete without a stop in to see my good friends Kim and Evan at Texas Farrier Supply — Knife Works to pick up some supplies.

I am honored to be part of this collab with Blue Canoe Forge. That’s one of my favorite things about this community - we work together to make some amazing knives!

Feather damascus is one of the toughest patterns to get right. The feathers have to run dead straight, mirror clean off the center, and stay crisp from tip to spine or the illusion breaks. My buddy Micah Dunn at Micah Dunn forged this billet in 1084 and 15N20 and absolutely nailed it. Every plume is doing exactly what it’s supposed to.

Then there’s the koa. Hawaiian koa from Terry Dunn , the kind with figure so deep it shifts and rolls when you turn it in the light. Set against brass and G10, it’s got that warm-meets-mean contrast that photos can only half tell you about.

Taking Micah’s billet and turning it into a knife that carries its weight is its own kind of satisfying. The pattern, the steel, the wood, the grind, the heat treat, all landing in the same spot.

Natural State Knife Show is coming up July 31 and August 1 at the Embassy Suites in Rogers, and I’ll be there for my third year running. This one’s climbed to the top of my list fast. Back at the same spot as last year, table A2.

Last year I was honored to take home Best Culinary at this show, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t hoping to repeat.

Trying something new this time around. If you’ve bought a knife from me before, come see me at the table and I’ll take 10% off whatever you pick up at the show. Repeat customers are the backbone of this whole thing, and I want to keep taking care of the folks who’ve had my back.

More on what I’m bringing with me soon. DM me if there’s anything you want to talk through before the show.
