💛MEET THE MARES💛
Alen's Pocket Change - 2009 Smokey Black Tobiano TWHBEA Mare. In foal to Blue Sky Walker for a Feb. 2026 foal.

"Pocket" is a great little mare standing only 14.3 hands and she is going to be one of our first mares to foal this year. Prior to and while being a broodmare for her previous owner she was ridden extensively and even a great kids horse. She has the most laid back disposition of any mare I've ever owned. We kept her 2024 filly, Pocketful Of Posies, back for our program and so her 2026 foal will be in search of a new pasture. The cross on Blue Sky Walker is going to be so nice and guaranteed roan! If you have been wanting one that will stay in the 15.1 or less range this may be the one for you!
Now that his herd is a bit smaller, I am going to breed this special little mare back to Little John for 2027!

💖MEET THE MARES💖

Gen's Southern Dream - 2010 Buckskin TWHBEA Mare.
In foal to Little John Lester for 2026.

"Gen" is the kind of mare that is irreplaceable. Every single one of her foals for us has been a star! They are very well gaited, have the most natural lope, and even better "born broke" disposition. Before becoming a broodmare she was a really nice riding mare and I've often thought of putting her back under saddle for one of my kids.
She is the dam to the mare I posted a couple of days ago, Sweet Southern McCurdy, and that is the only filly she has had for us so I won't be disappointed if this year's foal is a filly for me to keep!
She is in foal to Little John for 2026 and I highly doubt that I will let this one go no matter what she has but stay tuned!

Sweet Southern McCurdy ~ 2022 Buckskin Roan TWHBEA Mare
Sired by Little John Lester out of Gen's Southern Dream.
In foal to Gen's Roan Reward for 2026.

"Sapphire" is likely going to be our first mare to foal this season! Her dam, Gen's Southern Dream, is sired by Call Me John Wayne and maybe my favorite mare! She was a really nice riding mare before becoming a broodmare and this is the only filly she has ever had for us! Sapphire has the BEST disposition just like her dam and is truly the best parts of both her sire and dam. This is going to be her first foal and the cross of Gen's Roan Reward on these Little John daughters has been top notch so far! She is homozygous for the black gene so she will have a black based foal... anyone want to guess what she has? This foal will likely be available.

First picture was taken yesterday of her heavy in foal and the second photo is of her last year prior to being bred.

Baubles And Bullets - 2007 Gray TWHBEA Mare.
DIRECT daughter of Bud's Sterling Bullet!

"Babe" is the oldest mare in our program at 19 this year and definitely a farm favorite! We kept both of her fillies in our program and every c**t she has had for us are now guest horses at quail hunting plantations. This mare is as good as they come! Her foals are stout built, really well gaited with a natural lope, and have the best disposition you could ask for raising plantation horses! She is in foal to Little John Lester for an early 2026 foal and I can't wait to see what she has!

💙MEET THE MARES💙

With foaling season approaching I decided to do a series of posts introducing the mares in our breeding program. We have downsized quite a bit but still have a wonderful herd of mares that we truly appreciate and enjoy. First up, meet....

SCF Eb's Midnight Shades - 2019 Black TWHBEA Mare.
In foal to Blue Sky Walker for a 2026 foal.

We purchased "Shades" from Stoner Creek Farm and just like every other mare we have gotten from their program she is a GEM of a mare! She has the best manners you could ask for and seeks us out for attention every time we are in the pasture. A true in your pocket type mare. Not only that but she is incredibly naturally gaited with a short lope that would make the best AQHA horse out there envious. She had a stunning filly at side by Leisha's stallion, He's Ebony And Ivory, when we purchased her that we sold to a wonderful home down in FL and was bred back for a 2024 Foal. Her 2024 filly, Dancing In Moonlight, blew us away and was everything we had hoped for from the cross. We have retained her for our program and she has the same excellent disposition and mind as her dam.

Shades is in foal to Blue Sky Walker, a stunning homozygous roan stallion now owned by Casen Daniel, for an early April 2026 foal that will be Blue or Red Roan and is sure to be something special! I also look forward to crossing her on our main man, Little John Lester, for a 2027 foal!

Way's Roany Rain - Double reg TWHBEA & McCurdy
I have decided that I just can't part with this great mare! I honestly had hesitations from the beginning and when my daughter, who is really attached to this mare, asked me how I could even think about selling her I decided she was right! I don't know what I was thinking.

After deciding to keep her, on a whim since her hair sample was already with UC Davis for Roan testing I decided to test her for agouti. I have always believed her to be a Blue Roan gone grey but just like her daughter (who we recently sold to an amazing new home) she is actually a BAY ROAN gone gray. So EE Aa RN/RN* Gg.
Color aside, this is absolutely the best mare to own. She produces phenomenal babies that have her excellent mind and is just so easy to work with. I'm so glad my 5 year old talked some sense into me before we let her go!

"Ash" is a stunning red roan filly sired by our main herd sire, Little John Lester. Her dam was one of our best producers, if I didn't still have a half sister to her that I cross on Little John this filly wouldn't go anywhere. She is halter broke, easy to catch and handle, and will be ready to start her ground training and get started under saddle! She carries 1 copy of Agouti and Roan and her conformation is near perfect. Just look at that gorgeous head and ear! If you are looking for an excellent riding horse this cross has been a great one for us!
