🌙 Building a healing sanctuary for cats nobody else chose.

We’re creating a safe outdoor enrichment space at Crescent Moon Cat Sanctuary in The Woodlands, Texas — designed especially for senior cats, special-needs cats, hospice cats, and lifelong rescue residents.

This new freestanding cat corridor will allow our cats to safely experience:
• fresh air
• sunset light
• garden views
• enrichment & movement
• peaceful outdoor rest areas

The project is being designed using healing architecture principles — creating calm, protected spaces that support emotional and physical wellbeing for animals who have often experienced abandonment, illness, trauma, or neglect.

Every detail is intentional:
safe fencing, shaded garden paths, quiet seating areas, soft lighting, and natural sensory experiences designed for comfort and healing.

Senior cats. Special needs. Hospice care.
100+ rescue cats in lifelong care. 🤍

“The Ones Who Started It All” 🌙

This is Bebe and Rüzgar.
Harper’s Preserve, May 2019.

Rüzgar had FIV — the diagnosis that makes most people walk away.
He didn’t know that.
He just knew the coffee table was his.
He lived fully, loved loudly, and passed peacefully in September 2023 after years of a good life no one promised him.

Bebe claimed the camp chair that evening and has never fully relinquished her throne.
She’s in palliative care now — slower, softer, still here.

These two are why Crescent Moon exists.
Not because I set out to build a sanctuary, but because I kept saying yes — to the ones with diagnoses, to the ones nobody wanted, to the ones who needed someone to simply not give up.

Every cat here carries a little of their legacy. 🌙

Rüzgar FIV pozitifti — çoğu insanın uzaklaştığı o teşhis.
Ama o bunu bilmiyordu.
Sadece sehpanın ona ait olduğunu biliyordu.
Hayatını dolu dolu yaşadı, çok sevdi ve kimsenin ona vaat etmediği güzel bir hayatın ardından Eylül 2023’te huzur içinde veda etti.

Bebe ise o akşam kamp sandalyesini sahiplendi…
ve hâlâ tahtını tam olarak bırakmış değil.
Şimdi palyatif bakımda — daha yavaş, daha sakin… ama hâlâ burada.

Crescent Moon’un var olma sebebi bu ikisi.
Bir sanctuary kurmaya karar verdiğim için değil…
teşhisli olanlara, kimsenin istemediklerine, sadece vazgeçilmeyecek birine ihtiyaç duyanlara “evet” demeye devam ettiğim için.

Buradaki her kedi onların mirasından biraz taşıyor. 🌙

This is our guest bathroom. But we don’t really have guests anymore.

It’s become a storage space for food, supplements, and everything needed to care for nearly 100 cats in two different homes ten minutes apart.

Not because it’s ideal…
but because it’s necessary.

This is what animal rescue actually looks like behind the scenes.

Every bag, every can you see here
is about 5 days of food.

Then we start over.

We are not a large organization.
This is our home.

And these cats depend on us every single day.

Receiving photos of the kittens we once held in our hands — fragile, unsure, needing time, patience, and love — now safe in their new homes, cradled by their new families.

These little souls were born into uncertainty. Some arrived scared, some sick, some too small for the world. We gave them warmth, milk, sleepless nights, gentle hands, and the belief that their story could be different.

And now…
They have Christmas trees to explore.
Arms to fall asleep in.
Families who look at them with wonder and say, “You’re ours.”

Every photo is a quiet reminder of why rescue matters.
Why we keep going.
Why love, given freely, always finds its way back.

This is the miracle.
This is the joy.
This is Christmas at Crescent Moon Cat Sanctuary. 🌙🐾

Thank you to every family who opened their home and heart.
You didn’t just adopt a kitten — you completed a story.

Every single foster home is a lifeline for rescues like ours. When one person opens their heart and home, a kitten gets a chance to grow, heal, and blossom into their best little self. 💛

My amazing Harper’s Preserve neighbor Karen is currently fostering Velvet — Zen’s twin brother — and he is truly living his best life. 🐾✨
From the way he plays, explores, and melts into her arms, you can see the difference a foster makes. It’s not just temporary care… it’s love, stability, and a safe place to thrive.

To everyone who fosters (even one kitten, even for a short time): you are the bridge between rescue and forever home.

🌙✨ Zen’s New Beginning ✨🌙

Our beloved Zen — the heart of the garage sanctuary — has found his forever home October 29th. 💜
He wasn’t just any kitten; he was our greeter, our comforter, and our quiet little healer.
Every visitor was welcomed with his soft paws and steady purrs. He supervised cleaning days, offered love to everyone, and made the garage feel like home.

This week, something magical happened. Alejandra — my mom’s wonderful massage therapist and now dear friend — came to visit with her son. And as soon as they walked in, her son chose Zen. It was instant. Destiny in motion.

Zen, our social ambassador, has officially graduated into a life filled with love and connection — exactly what he gave to all of us. 💫🐾
