🐾 What does stress really look like in a dog?
The autonomic nervous system can trigger much more than the familiar Fight or Flight response. Dogs may Fight, Flight, Freeze, Fawn, Fool Around, or Forebear (shut down) when they feel threatened, conflicted, or overwhelmed.
Some responses are obvious—growling, lunging, or trying to escape. Others can easily be mistaken for stubbornness, silliness, excessive friendliness, or even “good behavior.” Hu
Learning to recognize these differences helps us respond to the emotion underneath the behavior, rather than simply reacting to what we see.
Behavior is communication. The better we listen, the better we can help. 🐾💜
