The Animal Humane Association of Star Valley (AHASV) at Lucky's Place Animal Shelter is a no-kill, nonprofit animal rescue in Star Valley, WY. If you're interested in volunteering in any form or fashion please contact us via phone or email. We are always in need of dog walkers, kennel maintenance technicians, foster homes, and staff at events. Donations can be mailed or submitted on our website. Hi!!! I’m Frank 🐾

I’m 6 months old, and honestly? I think life is the coolest thing ever. Grass? Awesome! Walks? Awesome! PEOPLE?! The BEST!!😍

I’m a Boxer mix with a huge heart, lots of energy, and a very serious commitment to being your adventure buddy. Hiking, car rides, playing outside, tagging along wherever you go… I’m SO in.

I was found all by myself, and nobody ever came looking for me, which is pretty hard to believe considering how adorable I am. But I haven’t let that stop me from being a happy, friendly boy who’s excited to meet everyone! I have so much love I have to give that it just pours right out!

But honestly? I’m trying not to dwell on that, because I know my real family is still out there somewhere. Right now, I’m just really hoping someone busts me outta here soon. I’m ready for couch snuggles, fun adventures, and finally knowing what it feels like to truly belong to somebody.

I’m curious about cats, but I’m actually pretty polite about it. I sniff toward them, but if they react, I back right up like, “okay okay sorry 😅.” I think I’d probably do just fine learning with the right home.

And other dogs? I’d really love some friends! I just need proper introductions so we can start things off on the right paw.

I’m still a puppy, so sometimes my excitement gets the best of me. I don’t mean to, I just love life SO much that my whole body gets involved. That’s why a home with older kids would probably fit me best.

What I really want is a family who wants a sidekick. A best friend. A goofy, loyal, always-ready-for-fun kind of dog.

Because if you’re looking for that?

Jeanette and Lisa are representing Lucky's place AHASV at the Best Friends event in Salt Lake City, and what an incredible opportunity this has been for our rescue! 🐾

From informative sessions packed with new ideas and practical tools, to meaningful one-on-one conversations with all the Best Friends representatives, this experience is helping our little rural shelter grow even stronger for the animals who depend on us. We might be small, but we make a big impact on the animals we are able to rescue. The support, encouragement, and positive energy here have been incredible! Knowing there are more resources available to help us continue to succeed makes this opportunity even more valuable.

They’re also connecting with vendors offering products, services, and solutions that could directly benefit the dogs and cats in our care and even help improve our daily operations. Every conversation opens another door to learning, networking, and building relationships that can make a lasting impact for Lucky’s Place.

We are so grateful for opportunities like this that allow us to learn, collaborate, and bring even more back to our community and the animals we serve. Because at the end of the day… it’s all about the animals!💚🐾💚

This picture says all the words we fall short in when we try to explain how much this amazing human means to everyone here at Lucky’s Place. 💖 For over 15 years, Jeanette has quietly given her heart to every single animal who comes through our doors.

She is the one showing up for the sleepless nights, bottle-feeding tiny babies like these...even when she already has a full house. Without question, she selflessly opens her home to animals who need a calmer place to heal. Every day, her love and care for the animals show that she is making sure no one feels forgotten at the shelter.

Her care is selfless. Her love is steady. Her impact is priceless.

Jeanette is talented, reliable, hardworking, and deeply compassionate. She is an advocate, a talented animal caregiver, and truly one of the good ones. We are so grateful to have her on our team. 💖

Hi… I’m Dakota 🐾

I’m about 11 months old, and I’ve been told I’ve got two things people notice right away… my big, adorable ears and how much I love being close to you. Following you around, sitting next to you, just being part of your day… that’s my absolute favorite place to be.

I’m a petite Shepherd mix, which means I’ve got that smart, loyal heart, but in a smaller, easier-to-cuddle package! I’m a really gentle girl. Sweet, kind, and always trying to do the right thing. I get along great with other dogs (I even live with them right now, including smaller ones!), and I love kids too.

I love adventures! Walks, exploring, and being outside are the best, but I’m just as happy staying close and relaxing with you when the day is done.

I’m very loved. Truly. But my person is going through a really hard time and doesn’t have a place where I can stay. So now I’m looking for a new home… one where I can feel safe, loved, and part of a family for keeps.

I don’t need anything fancy. Just someone to love, somewhere to belong. If you think I might be your girl, I would really love to meet you! 🐾

Thanks to your incredible support, Lucky’s Place (Animal Humane Association of Star Valley) has been awarded a $5,000 grant through the Pet Lovers’ Choice Awards!

This opportunity brought in over 10 million votes nationwide, and because of this amazing community, we were able to stand out alongside shelters across the country and come out on top! 🌟
