The Animal Humane Association of Star Valley (AHASV) at Lucky's Place Animal Shelter is a no-kill, nonprofit animal rescue in Star Valley, WY. If you're interested in volunteering in any form or fashion please contact us via phone or email. We are always in need of dog walkers, kennel maintenance technicians, foster homes, and staff at events. Donations can be mailed or submitted on our website. ๐Ÿ™ Please share. The more foster homes we have available, the more animals we can help. For puppies and tiny breeds especially, a shelter is rarely the best place to grow up or wait. It's simply too loud and busy, and despite how much we care, we can't provide the one-on-one attention, socialization, and family environment they need to thrive. Every time a foster family opens their home, it creates space for us to say "yes" to saving another life.

Not long ago, we shared Keno's story and asked for help finding the future he deserved. Today, we're beyond excited to share that Keno has been accepted into a Veteran Service Dog training program! โค๏ธ

While Keno wasn't placed through our courtesy listing, his story is a beautiful example of why these listings matter. Rehoming a beloved pet is never easy, and it rarely happens overnight. Sometimes the right answer comes from an adopter. Sometimes it comes from a connection, a shared post, a new opportunity, or a community willing to help.

That's exactly why we offer courtesy listings.

They give families another avenue when life takes an unexpected turn. They expand a pet's reach, connect people with resources, help families avoid desperate decisions, and encourage safe, thoughtful rehoming. Most importantly, they remind families that they don't have to navigate these difficult situations alone.

Keno's family never gave up on him. When finding the right home proved challenging, they kept searching, networking, sharing his story, and exploring every possible option. Three months ago, they also applied to have Keno evaluated for a Veteran Service Dog training program, and that dedication paid off.

We're incredibly proud of Keno's family for fighting so hard for the best possible outcome, and we're so excited for the future ahead of this very good boy!

๐Ÿ’” Daisy Needs Our Help ๐Ÿ’”

Daisy has worked so incredibly hard. When she arrived, she was just a puppy trying to figure out a very overwhelming world. Thanks to a loving foster family, patient guidance, and some wonderful furry foster siblings, Daisy has blossomed into an amazing companion. She has learned how to be part of a family, how to listen, how to relax, and how wonderful life can be when you're loved.

She is playful, affectionate, well-behaved, and thriving. The goofy puppy who needed direction is growing into the kind of dog everyone hopes to find.

But Daisy's foster home is coming to an end.

We desperately want to avoid bringing her back to the chaos and stress of shelter life. For a young dog who has made such incredible progress, returning to the shelter could be a huge setback. Right now, Daisy is learning, growing, and building confidence every day. We don't want that momentum to stop.

What Daisy needs most is another foster family willing to give her a safe place to continue her journey.... or even better, a forever family ready to make her part of their lives.

She has done everything we've asked of her. She has trusted, learned, adapted, and on top of it all, loved with her whole heart. Now we're asking someone to step up for her. Her time in foster has really shaped her into an incredibly sweet and well-behaved little girl.

If you've ever thought about fostering, Daisy would be a wonderful place to start! And if you've been considering adding a dog to your family, this sweet girl loves having fur siblings.

Still waiting... ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ–ค

Hi, I'm Remus.

A while back, I thought maybe someone would notice me. Maybe they'd see my handsome tuxedo coat, my sweet face. But somehow, I'm still here waiting.

I'm about 6 months old now, which means I'm at that perfect age. I'm past the tiny baby stage but still young, playful, curious, and ready to grow up with my forever family. I genuinely like to balance playtime with cuddle time. I love exploring, hanging out with my siblings, and making new friends, but what I'd really love is a home of my own.

I'd be happy to share with a fur sibling or be your one and only! I don't need anything super fancy. Just a comfy place to nap, some toys to chase, a window to watch the world from, and someone who thinks I'm pretty special. Would I mind being spoiled? Not one bit! I'd love it!

My favorite place to perch is by the window where every day I watch people come through the shelter doors, and every day I hope one of them is coming for me. They haven't come yet, but I'm still hopeful. Maybe this is the post that finally reaches my person! Come and meet me! I'd really love the chance to win you over in person!

Thanks to their generous donation of rock, concrete work, time, and expertise, they are helping us create a safer and better space for the animals that are here in our care.

They're helping us with our backyard improvement project. Helping us make a safe place where dogs can run, play, decompress, and simply be dogs while they wait for their forever homes with us. This updated space will make an incredible difference in the lives of the abandoned and surrendered animals who come through our doors. We can't wait to show you all the finished project! Soon!
