WTH
Remember the incident involving Harris County attorney Steven Tyler Swain who has been charged with felony be******ty following allegations involving the family dog, Shipley?
Swain appeared in court yesterday and entered a not guilty plea to the state jail felony charge after reportedly spending about 12 hours in the Harris County Jail. The DA’s Office requested a $10,000 bond while Swain’s defense attorney, James Anthony Giancarlo Osso, requested $5,000. The judge at Court 183 set the bond at $7,500.
As part of Swain’s bond conditions, court records state he is prohibited from supervising, possessing, or owning any animals while the case is pending.
The investigation began after Swain’s wife allegedly discovered disturbing surveillance footage recorded inside their west Houston home. She later turned the video over to the Houston SPCA after allegedly identifying both Swain and the family dog, Shipley, in the footage.
Court documents state the video was recorded in November 2025 and later provided to Harris County Precinct 1 investigators after the Houston SPCA was contacted.
According to the charging docs, Investigators reviewed a video that allegedly showed Swain calling the dog toward him and repeatedly directing the animal into sx contact.
The affidavit alleges Shipley repeatedly licked Swain during the incident investigators described in court records as prohibited conduct involving the dog.
Swain’s wife told investigators she was certain both her husband and Shipley were shown in the video. Shipley is currently safe and remains with the wife.
As with all criminal cases, Swain is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court. There is video footage.
