This guy came out during the day!! I love seeing it! Look how metallic his head looks when the light hits it. I know not everyone likes spiders but I just think they’re so dang cool!

Little dude is in DEEEEEEP blue!! Notice how his eyes are a blueish grey color and his body is incredibly faded. This is what happens when a snake starts going into shed! This is when you should double check humidities, maybe raise them a bit and make sure your enclosure is ready for your snake to have a shed.

(Note: the heat lamp he’s touching is not turned on. Don’t worry! Hahaha)

Two wonderful adoptions in one! Two animals brought to us who were once considered to be “aggressive” couldn’t have gotten a better home with someone so kind and patient. Already these babies are thriving and accepting handling very well! I couldn’t be happier to see these guys in their new home!

WARNING: SNAKE FEEDING
A perfect example of the affects of a neurological disorder common amongst the spider morph of ball pythons. This is a minor wobble where basically the snake has difficulty managing the direction and angle of its head. This little guys wobble is no where near as severe as some but you can see how this, in serious cases can cause bad issues for a snake, especially one being fed live food. Had this been a live rat and he missed it, the rat could have attacked in self defense and seriously injured him. Thankfully he has no issues with frozen thawed as you can see and this beautiful boy has never missed a meal. But this is why I do not support the breeding of the spider gene.

Nocturnal check! ✅
Love it when the creepy crawlers come out after dark! This guy has been dead set on staying in his burrow but I caught him venturing out last night. So fluffy!!!

Today is the day, the shed is finally coming off and those GORGEOUS colors are making their appearance. Of course this makes for a very grumpy and itchy dragon so after a light spray over her skin to loosen up and soothe her, I will be leaving her be to die what she does best. It’ll be a long day of rubbing and itching till it all comes off.

Side note: Never EVER pull shed off of your reptile. This can result in pulling scales off and ripping their skin. If you notice the shed is stuck for longer than 5 days, make a humid box for your reptile by getting towels, soaking them in hot water, put your reptile on top of the towels in a tub that you can close with a few air holes and let them soak in the humidity for 5-10 minutes. Then place them back into their enclosure and let them get the shed off themselves. Repeat as needed till the stuck shed comes off.

I pull this lady out today for some deep cleaning and a closer inspection and of course to handle her a bit to see how her temperament is coming along now that she’s settled in. Honestly, I believe she‘ll tame down to be a very sweet dragon. Today she barely puffed up when I picked her up to move her and then the second time I picked her up she didn’t even budge. Baby girl just needs a loving touch which she will be getting soon with her new forever home! Otherwise she is thick with the shed and probably very itchy, but shedding is a good sign so we love to see it!

Have you ever seen a spider molt? Well! Similar to how snakes shed their skin, so do spiders and many many other arachnids and bugs. This is an example of a pretty solid Tarantula Molt we found this morning from our Curly Hair baby. Important things to remember when your T. molts is 1 never ever touch your tarantula for at least 3 days after a molt. Their skin is insanely thin and fragile and 2 do not feed your T. for at least a week after a molt to give their body a chance to harden back up.

Fun fact: you can use molts to tell the gender of your T!

Little update on the sassy dragon. She was able to get chunks of stuck shed off yesterday, which is good. It means she’s getting good hydration levels now with the daily fresh foods. Now, you can probably see, she’s got different parts of her going into shed. So we will be monitoring those closely to ensure proper shedding again. Nothing worse than a sassy dragon with itchy shed. The sass multiplies haha but other than that she has mellowed out SO MUCH! Which is awesome and we are happy to announce that she has an adopted coming to adopt her after her quarantine period is over!
