Remi is an exceptional gelding with a superb temperament. Not spooky, not hot, not lazy either, training horses for 15 years I have to say he's one of those horses with just the right combo of go and whoa!
Remi is a finished snaffle bit reined cow horse. He can put together an awesome reining pattern highlights on his big stops, he's an exceptional fence horse for as little access as I've had to cattle this year he can turn one and circle it up with authority and natural ability. He works nice and quiet out of the herd and works a flag well.
Remi will go down the trail as well and has even done a 2 day wilderness pack/camp trip. He rides great in one hand already and really this is the kind of horse you could take any direction and he would do exceptional and on top of that do it with any level of rider. PM for more details. I did not expect a 3rd place finish in his second reining pattern ever but Remi pulled 3rd in Open Green Horse Reining! Could not be more proud of this dude this weekend, he handled the preasure like a champ! For being a long way from finished I'll take this reining pattern everyday.

Shiners Chrome Cat aka Remi is at his first horse show this weekend. He did decent in the reining and his first time ever on cows was fantastic!

Working on my show ponies yesterday!
I haven't been posting much lately just busy livin the dream! I'm renewing my passion for riding at my own pace here, so you'll see more and hear more from me in the next year as I get more recovered from my burn out.

Well I haven't done any outside training the last 2 months but I have been enjoying my time with my own horses! This weekend I did some mountain training on a 2 and a half day deer hunt in the wilderness it was awesome.
I will be starting to take some lesson clients in the Sisters Oregon area for the winter. Please contact me if interested.

Took my cow pony over to my buddy Kyle's training facility to work the mechanical flag yesterday and we had a blast!
After training in the arena we also checked our his new trail course which was awesome. Thanks for the fun afternoon Hockett Horsemanship!

starting to turn into a grownup! He has handled the move to a new place super and with quite a big change in environment he is proving to have a great mind! This horse will always be for sale for the right price...I do intend to futurity him in 2021 if things keep looking promising for that direction.

is one heck of a 2 year old! He did his first 2 flying lead changes yesterday and his next 3 today. He's also stopping and turning really well, the ground is a bit wet and deep so its super sticky but he tries his heart out to get through it when we stop.

Need some of this in my life right now but this smoke is bad to ride in so we wait...
The nice thing is I no longer make my living riding so I don't feel obligated too! I am anxious to focus on my cow horses however and continue to share my journey into the performance horse industry.

Remi is starting to get shape on the flag a little bit. He hooked up to it a bit more today although I'm not letting him do much on his own yet. No training aids yet I'm seeing how little I can rely on that stuff even though a training fork right now would help here and there but I make up for it by stopping frequently and making a smooth and thorough correction instead of relying on the aid saving me the 5 min. Also head position and footwork comes when everything else is soft and correct and that is a long process so patience is good! Not super happy with my body position after watching my video but thats why I video alot!
