Dear Friends and Neighbors,
This is one of the hardest messages I’ve ever had to write. Theresa’s Country Feed/Red Barn has been a staple in our community for decades, and when Phil and his family entrusted us with carrying on their legacy, we were honored to do so. Over the past few years, we have invested our heart, soul, and resources into keeping the Tarzana location thriving—because this store has always been more than just a business. It’s been a place for connection, care, and community.
Sadly, recent challenges have made it impossible for us to continue and we wanted to provide clarity to avoid any confusion. Specifically, criminal, drug and homeless activity in the area—including break-ins and threats to both employees and customers—has taken a serious psychological, physical, and financial toll over the past year. Despite our efforts for capital improvements and security solutions to protect our customers and employees, we ultimately had to accept Metro’s offer to release us from our lease. This was not a decision made lightly—but we knew we could never risk the safety of our customers, team, or community and continue operating under the current circumstances waiting for something terrible to happen.
We want to be clear: this was not about walking away. It was about protecting the people who mean the most—our employees and customers.
We cannot thank you enough for the love, loyalty, and support you’ve shown Theresa’s Country Feed/Red Barn over the years. While our doors will be closing, the memories, friendships, and trust we’ve built will always remain. We would love to continue to serve you at one of our other locations in Westlake Village, Moorpark, or Simi Valley.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for allowing us to be part of this incredible community and for helping keep Phil’s legacy alive.
With gratitude,
Jeff
