Joey is a dog that was at risk for never finding a permanent home. He comes from an abusive and neglectful background where some details are scanty. When he first came to live with me his condition was pretty rough. He was so nervous that he pooped whenever I was in a few feet of him. If I had to touch him for the purposes of moving him or to check him out or put a collar on him and things like th
at, he shivered and hung his head low and held his body tight. We have already gone through so much (as of August 27/14) and he is showing remarkable improvement. It is going to take a very long time for rehabilitation and I will be there no matter how long it takes. It is a joy to wake up every morning and see him growing and learning something new for the first time. Though he rarely makes a sound, no whines, no barks, no cries, or whimpers, he communicates more than most animals I've known. He is very intelligent and has proven that he is definitely a survivor. In many ways, he is very much, like me!
