BLANCA needs a home! 🤍
CATpassionate Village…
After spending much of her young life on the streets of a Lutz mobile home park, Blanca was trapped, spayed and vaccinated by CATpassionate Village. But, turned out she was super sweet. It didn’t seem right to send her back to the mobile home park. Cat Man Chris asked Happy Tailz Cat Rescue to take her into their adoption program.
Weeks later, on Friday, May 21, a devastating fire burned their shelter to the ground. Sadly, 27 cats were lost and six others had to be euthanized. Blanca was one of the lucky ones they were able to save.
Smoke and stress affected her health. Blanca spent the night at Harmony Vet Care in Oldsmar until CATpassionate Village could pick her up the next day.
A CATpassionate Village supporter was very interested in adopting her and took her in immediately. The following day the new pet parent and CATpassionate Village went to All Creatures Animal Hospital to have her evaluated since she had been sneezing and coughing, likely the effects of smoke inhalation.
After a thorough evaluation, including some x-rays, it was determined that she had a developing upper respiratory infection and an ear infection, but what was unexpected was to learn she was FIV positive. Before leaving the vet’s office, her new mom said she loved her and thought she was super sweet, but she couldn’t keep her because of her other two elderly cats.
CATpassionate Village took her in and has been caring for her and working to restore her to good health since then.
What is Blanca like? Despite having stayed in six different places since being originally trapped in April, Blanca has remained very sweet, social and proved to be a good office buddy. She has tolerated eye drops, ear drops, along with pills and powders in her food. She still purrs loudly, rubs her head against her caregivers and seems to be able to acclimate pretty quickly to new environments. She also seems to be comfortable with friendly, calm dogs as well as other cats.
Blanca is not perfect, but who is? The tip of her tail is broken. Her left ear is tipped. And, she has FIV. But the All Creatures vet, who thinks she's just over a year old, said she could live a long life with it and it’s only contagious through a deep tissue bite. The president of CATpassionate Village said she would be very comfortable integrating her into her household if she had room for another cat.
Blanca is ready for a forever home of her own—something and someone she can count on.
