Did you know Hunter Under Saddle (HUS) classes were added to the all-around circuit to demonstrate a horse's versatility?

These classes were designed to showcase horses suitable for the hunt field – meaning horses with smooth, ground-covering, and efficient gaits that could carry a rider comfortably for long periods and navigate varied terrain.

By including HUS, a horse could be recognized as genuinely all-around, demonstrating proficiency and excellence in both Western and English tack, profoundly expanding what it meant for a horse to be a versatile competitor within associations like AQHA and APHA.
