With Christmas this week, the shop will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday till noon. I will not be taking any frozen deer in for shoulder mounts this week till Friday afternoon. If a customer brings me a fully frozen deer after today 12 - 22, it will not be thawed out until Christmas eve or Christmas Day. I also have no room in my freezers for caped deer. If you have deer you want mounted, PLEASE find a freezer to put into until after Christmas. If you have a deer that's not frozen, you have till tomorrow 12 - 23 to get it to me. Thank you.

Tomorrow is the 1st day of the Iowa gun season, and the blaze orange army will be out in force for the next 2 weeks. Good luck, have fun and please stay safe.

Yesterday, I boiled out the last of the heads I received during bow season to make room for gun season coming up. Today was a trip to the tanner with hides taken during bow season. Also, don't forget about the skull tree giveaway. Hard to believe season is almost done, heck three days after 2nd season is over, it's Christmas Eve. The older I get the faster time flies.

Reminder of the skull tree giveaway. When you bring me a deer head for a european, that you harvested during the 25-26 deer season, you have a chance to win this skull tree. If you shoot one during the bow and any gun season, you get 2 chances. If during the December gun season, you fill your tag but also fill someone else's tag, you still only get one chance. I've had a slow season for euros, so you have a pretty good chance this year. Drawing will be the end of January. Looks like there's going to be plenty of snow for 1st season gun. So good luck to everyone still bow hunting and to the ones heading out 1st and 2nd season.

Morning folks. Hope everyone is doing well and have a chance to get in some hunting now that the temps are a lot cooler. I like to have everyone think about having a gameplan ahead of time if you shoot a buck you want to have mounted. Having my shop connected to my home is a blessing, especially during the winter, but it can also be curse. I try to accommodate my customers as much as possible, but there are times I'm not going to be available. You need to a have a gameplan a head of time on how to take care of your trophy if your favorite taxidermist isn't going to be available for a day or two and maybe even several days. Everything from how or who is caping your deer, too cold storage, like a freezer big enough for a deer head. Having your ducks in row a head of time can save you a lot of frustration. Have a wonderful weekend and good luck if you're heading out to your treestand.

**Give Away** Here's the Skull Tree I used during the gun shows this last summer. Everyone that brings me a deer to have boiled, that is shot during the 2025 - 26 deer season will have a chance to win the tree. Since Iowa is a two buck state, there's a possibility of one customer entering twice, but that's all. I know during the December gun season, a hunter might shoot more than two bucks. It's the only way I know how to keep it fair for the hunters that get two buck tags and the hunters that only hunt the December gun season. I want to wish everyone the best of luck and a safe hunting season.
