🐾 Tuesday Tips: Client Edition 🐾

✨ Lulu – Calm > Obedient ✨

Tuesday Tip: Obedience means nothing without emotional control.

Lulu knows the commands. The real challenge is staying calm enough to follow through when the world gets exciting or emotional. That’s the true work. ♥️

In this video, Lulu watches her owner leave out of the same door she would normally rush to follow through. But instead of anxiety, anticipation, or fear, Lulu calmly waited for 5 full minutes until dad returned. 🐾

No panic.
No stress.
Just patience and emotional control. ✨

That’s the kind of progress that truly matters!!!

Don’t just teach obedience. Teach mindset. 🐾

🐾💕 Lulu the Therapy Dog in Training is back at homework duty!! 📚🐶

We haven’t had a session at home in a while, because honestly… Miss Lulu has been out in public absolutely crushing it with people lately! 🥹👏🏼 But therapy dogs don’t just practice in exciting new places… they also have to master the “boring” stuff at home too.

And let me tell you… Lulu understood the assignment today. 😭💕

One of the biggest things therapy dogs work through is excitement regulation. Because let’s face it… when you love humans as much as Lulu does, staying calm can be HARD. 😂 Wiggles happen. Happy feet happen. Full body tail wags happen.

But today? Lulu showed just how much progress she’s made. Instead of staying stuck in that overexcited puppy brain, she was able to pause, listen, and calm herself back down. THAT is huge!! 👏🏼🐾

Growth like this doesn’t happen overnight. It comes from consistency, guidance, repetition, and trust. Her dad deserves a ton of credit for putting in the work and helping her learn how to navigate her big feelings successfully. And of course… maturity is helping too. 💕

Watching dogs learn self-regulation is one of the coolest things ever, because confidence and calmness are SKILLS. They are taught, practiced, and reinforced over time.

And Lulu? She is becoming such a sweet, thoughtful little girl. We are SO proud of her!! 🥹🐶💕

🐕‍🦺 Luigi:
“ATTENTION ALL REACTIVE DOGS!!! 📣🚨
Apparently we can walk past another dog without acting like the neighborhood security team. Who knew?! 😅

Today I walked past a little Shiba Inu and hardly reacted at all!! HUGE deal for me!!

But here’s the important part… this wasn’t luck. This was communication, leadership, and emotional regulation from BOTH ends of the leash.”

🦊 Shiba Inu:
“Here’s the tea… ☕🐾
This actually wasn’t our first pass today. Earlier, Luigi’s mom got tense when she saw us coming. Luigi noticed immediately and stepped into leadership mode.

Dogs read body language FAST. Tight leash, nervous energy, bracing for chaos… reactive dogs often interpret that as:
⚠️ ‘Something’s wrong. I need to handle this.’ ⚠️

So Luigi reacted.”

🐕‍🦺 Luigi:
“But this time was different. 👏🏼
Before our second pass, the trainer reminded Mom to breathe, stay calm, and stop anticipating my reaction. Mom relaxed, stayed confident, and didn’t feed tension into the leash.

And guess what?
✨ I stayed calm too. ✨”

🦊 Shiba Inu:
“Even though MY human was still nervous, Luigi made an AMAZING choice. No meltdown. No sidewalk drama. No screaming match. 😂

Just two dogs passing each other like civilized neighbors.”

🐕‍🦺 Luigi:
“And THAT is what progress looks like. Not perfection… progress.

Reactive dogs can learn new patterns when humans learn to regulate themselves first. Calm leadership creates safety. Safety creates better choices.

One successful repetition at a time. 💛

SCORE!!! VICTORY!!! 🎉
Turns out I actually can be a nice neighbor after all. 😎🐾”

One of the biggest misconceptions in dog behavior work is believing progress only happens when a dog becomes instantly “friendly.” That’s not true at all.

Today, Luigi made a REMARKABLE choice… he chose avoidance instead of conflict. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Upon arrival, Luigi greeted me with his usual disagreement. But instead of escalating, pushing forward, or staying stuck in fight mode, Luigi made the decision to turn himself around and avoid me instead.

And THAT is huge.

No, this is not the final destination. But it is a massive step in the right direction because deescalation matters. Choosing space matters. Choosing to disengage matters.

Dogs that feel safe, supported, and properly led begin making calmer decisions. They stop feeling like they have to handle every situation themselves. That’s exactly what we are starting to see from Luigi.

This kind of progress does not happen by accident. Mom has made HUGE leaps and bounds in her leadership, consistency, emotional control, and ability to advocate for Luigi in stressful moments. Because of that, Luigi is settling more into avoidance instead of fight/flight responses.

That’s nervous system change.
That’s trust building.
That’s behavior rehabilitation.

And honestly? That deserves to be celebrated BIG today. 🥳

The goal is never to suppress communication. The goal is to help dogs make safer, healthier choices while teaching them they do not have to live in survival mode. Luigi is learning exactly that. 💙

🐾 Furever Friday Reviews🐾

“This is the closest I’ve ever felt to any dog that I’ve ever had!”

That’s what Lulu’s dad said after starting this journey.

And honestly? That’s the part people don’t expect about dog psychology training.

This isn’t just about teaching commands.
It’s not about forcing obedience.
It’s about learning how to truly SHOW UP for your dog.

When you become present…
when you learn to communicate clearly…
when you stop reacting emotionally and start leading calmly…

Your dog changes.

But something even bigger happens:
✨ Your relationship changes.

Dogs don’t bond through endless treats or constant baby talk.
They bond through trust.
Through consistency.
Through feeling safe with you.

Lulu’s dad didn’t just train his dog…
He became someone Lulu could fully lean on.

And THAT kind of connection?
It’s hard to explain until you feel it for yourself.

The way they look at you changes.
The way they follow you changes.
The way they relax around you changes.

You stop feeling like “just a pet owner”…
and start feeling like a true team. 🐾

That’s the magic of this work.
Not perfection.
Not control.

Connection.

The kind that turns everyday walks, quiet moments, and simple eye contact into something unforgettable. ❤️

If you’ve ever wanted a deeper bond with your dog—not just a trained dog—this is your sign that it IS possible. 🐶🐾

🚨🐾 EXCUSE US… THERE IS A GOLDEN RETRIEVER AT THE DOOR. 🐾🚨

First of all… who told Lindsay she could just show up at OUR house like we were supposed to be excited about it?! 😂

We don’t know her.
We didn’t invite her.
And honestly… we prefer to be the only children around here. 😌🐾

So naturally, when Lindsay arrived with the trainer, we felt it was our responsibility to let everyone know exactly how we felt about this fluffy intruder.

BUT here’s the interesting part…

When MOM held the leash, we felt the need to handle the situation ourselves. Mom was nervous about how we might react, and dogs feel that immediately. The tighter the leash, the more worried the energy, the more we think:
“Uh oh… mom needs our help.” 😳

So we bark.
We react.
We try to make Lindsay go away.

But the SECOND the trainer takes the leash?
Everything changes.

The energy becomes calm and clear. There’s no nervous tension traveling down the leash anymore, which means we no longer feel responsible for controlling the situation. Suddenly… we’re free to just be curious dogs instead of security guards. 😂🐶

That’s why we can walk up and engage with Lindsay so much easier in different hands.

Dog reactivity is often less about the other dog and more about emotion, pressure, and responsibility. When dogs trust the leadership handling them, they stop feeling like they have to carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. ❤️🐾

And after careful consideration…
we guess Lindsay can stay. For now. 😏😂

🤣😂🤣

05/27/2026

Hi. My name is Luigi… and apparently I’ve been making “character development.” 😏🐾

Let me explain something from a dog’s perspective…

On Day 1, walking next to another human while Mom held the leash? Absolutely not. Hard pass. I felt like I needed to control the environment, make decisions, stay alert, and make sure everyone respected my bubble. That’s exhausting work for a dog.

But today?
Today I walked calmly right beside my trainer while Mom handled the leash like a total pro. No panic. No chaos. No overreactions. Just calm movement, structure, and trust. 👏

Here’s the cool part humans need to understand:
Dogs don’t become calm because someone “forces” them to submit. We become calm when we finally feel safe enough to let go of responsibility.

And that’s exactly what Mom is learning:
✔️ Calm energy
✔️ Clear communication
✔️ Consistency
✔️ Leadership without tension

When humans become confident and emotionally stable, dogs stop feeling like they have to take over the world.

So yes… technically I was walking next to the trainer today.
But the real victory?
Mom was fully in control while I stayed relaxed and connected to her. THAT is the breakthrough. 💪🐾

Also… can we all acknowledge how hard it is to look this handsome while healing emotionally and making better life choices? Truly inspiring work by me. 😂

Big reminder:
Reactive dogs are not “bad dogs.” Most of us are just overstimulated, unsure, hyper-vigilant, or carrying too much responsibility. The goal is not to shut us down… it’s to help us feel safe enough to trust the guidance we’re being given.

And today?
Mom crushed it. ❤️

“Excuse me… I was told there would be snacks AND emotional support during this reactive moment.” – Luigi 🐾😂

Let’s talk about TREAT LURING!!

Yes… even dog behaviorists use treats. 🍖
The difference is HOW and WHY we use them.

A lot of people think treats are bribery.
“Luigi only listens because food is involved.” Sound familiar??

False, Momma. 😭😂

When used correctly, treats are simply a communication tool. They help guide the dog’s brain away from chaos and back into a calmer, more thoughtful state. The treat itself isn’t the magic… the timing, leadership, energy, and follow-through is what matters.

In this video, you’ll see me (Luigi) and Mom working through a highly reactive moment. And honestly?? Mom CRUSHED IT!!! 👏🔥

At first, she tried luring me without changing anything else… and it had little to no effect. Why? Because if your body keeps moving forward while your dog’s brain is spiraling, you’re basically saying:
“PANIC FASTER, WE RIDE AT DAWN!!!!!!” 😂🐕

But once Coach helped Mom slow down, stop moving forward, create space, and guide me calmly through the moment… BOOM. Different dog!! Different outcome!!

That’s the part most people miss….
Treat luring is not about shoving food in your dog’s face to distract them. It’s about helping the dog THINK instead of REACT.

Dogs in a reactive state often cannot process pressure, commands, or corrections effectively. But when leadership slows the moment down, the nervous system can finally settle enough to learn. THAT is where progress happens!!

Can we all give Mom some love for practicing this on her own without Coach standing next to her?? Because THAT takes courage, growth and leadership!! 👏❤️

Training is not about perfection.
It’s about learning how to help your dog through hard moments instead of avoiding them.

If treats help open that communication door in a healthy way? Use the snack, my friends. 😂🍖🐾
