Conversations with God: Shelter in the storm. As the thunder began to roll and lightning was striking in the distance, the anxiety began to grow amongst some of the old dogs. They would run to the house and to the barn and then back to the house. The dogs that had a comfortable safe place to go knew exactly where to hide. One dog goes to this tiny box on the porch. Another goes up under the steps. The pups all gathered in the big dog house under the porch. Then the two that had no idea where they wanted to seek shelter continued to roam and quite personally they were getting in the way. They would get under the vehicles as we tried to park them under the barn. They would then get in the stalls where they were not welcomed and quite frankly put themselves in more danger than the rainstorm. Then they would run to where others were resting and cause a chaotic ruckus. They knew they wanted to seek safety and shelter from the storm but they continued to seek it in the wrong places. Does this sound familiar? Do we know where to seek shelter from the storms of life? Do we run to a safe place or do we put our trust in things that bring more harm? Do we drown our problems in alcohol or drugs? Do we run to people for advice instead of bringing our problems to God? Do we go to others and begin to complain and cause ruckus? Do we know who brings salvation during troubled times? Are we like the lost dogs running to or from or are we like the dogs that know where the safe place is? There is shelter from the storms of life and His name is Jesus. He is our refuge and strength. He is our strong tower. Seek him. Find your security in Him. Don’t run to the places of self satisfaction. Don’t run to places that bring more harm to your life. Turn to the place that promises peace in the valley. Turn to the place that promises refuge. Turn to God. Now more than ever is the time to call upon the name of Jesus. Jesus!!!! Call his Name. Jesus!!!! He will rescue you in your times of desperation. Find peace in Him. Be blessed my friend.
