Getting back to the vet for a check on Buddys feet. It’s been close to 6 months since his initial vet visit and things are looking good! Buddy has been an amazing horse to work with! He is extremely intelligent. Also very sensitive and we know when his feet are bothering him. Despite the excruciating pain founder causes he has been very cooperative.

This is Buddy after nearly 6 months of trims every 2-3 weeks , casts, glue on steel shoes with a cast over and now he’s ready to transition to glue on rubber shoes.

Buddy has been one of my most successful founder cases. Because of the severity of his condition and his quick turn around. This is only possible with the work or the owner and ferrier. You have to be committed to ongoing frequent ferrier visits and sometimes changing you methods or finding new solutions. This is the first video on the first day I met buddy.

Regular hoof trims from a capable ferrier are so important! If something doesn’t seem right don’t dismiss it. This poor guy has been needing his old foot taken off for awhile. Amazing that this horse got to where he could barely walk. After a few trims and foot soaking he’s on the mend.
