It was a busy morning meeting the trainers and sending the horses off. I was busy so only got these 2 photos (sorry ladies). We had a little mishap which ended up with me switching gears from grab photos quick to grab the truck we’re headed to the vet. Always a good idea to have a back up horse which thankfully I had prepared for. So now we have Hank (MP STEELNGUNS) in the competition and Fancy (MP STEELNFANCY) is out.

It was a busy weekend in MN working on the trainer’s gift bags. Still a lot to get done before the horses leave.

Branding is happening on Sunday and I’m so excited! We will be branding the 5 challenge horses, the backup horse, and Steel (their sire). Brands can look ugly for up to 8 months and some take 18 months to fully look good so getting this done sooner than later was very important to me. I really appreciate all the help and information I’ve gotten from the branding crew. She really went out of her way to assist and accomodate me to get this done before the horses leave. It was a struggle to get the brand application submitted and calling after hours or weekends doesn’t work. But it was completed this morning!

Microchips should be here this week as well and they are Bio-Thermo so they will read the horses temp! Glad I already have a reader that reads the temp but might have a learning curve with pairing it to the app. Super excited to do my whole herd with these by the end of summer when the rest of the horses get branded.

I have 2 weeks of late nights after work but it will be worth it!

I have been working hard in getting my website updated. There is a lot more information under the Trainers Challenge tab. Still a work in progress as I work long regular hours and do this in my home time. I have a lot of irons in the fire right now!

🎉 EXCITING NEWS!🎉

I’m so excited to share that I’ve been selected to participate in the Inaugural MP-Horses Trainer Challenge!

This opportunity means a lot to me! I’m excited to put the work in, learn, grow, and document the entire process along the way.

Here’s how it works!👇🏼

🐴The Horse🐴
Each of the 5 selected trainers will receive an un-started 3-4 year old APHA or AQHA registered horse from the breeder who is hosting the challenge, under a foster-to-train agreement. I will be picking up my horse February 28 or March 1.
Throughout the week of the competition, horses will be available for auction on horsebid.com

🗓️ The Training Period🗓️
From March 1-July 14 (about 135 days), I will be training this horse to the best of my ability! I’ll be sharing progress, challenges, and behind the scenes moments throughout the process.

🏆 The Competition🏆
The final competition will take place at Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in Stratford, WI on July 14, 15 and 16.

I’ll be competing in different classes each day, including:
Riding Maneuvers
Trail
Freestyle
And More!

🥇The Grand Finale/Awards🥇
The grande finale/awards will take place during Thursday July 16 competition time slot.

This challenge is about thoughtful training, horsemanship, and showcasing what can be accomplished in a short period of time with consistency and care. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to bring you along for the journey. Stay tuned!
