To all my equine friends, colleagues, and adjacent in Middle Georgia and the Low Country,
I am so excited to share this product with you that I have been working on for the last several months. My goal was to achieve a salve that not only works immediately, but continues to provide support for the hoof through the entire healing process especially on barefoot horses. I have officially formulated a hoof product that is non-toxic. This salve can be applied without gloves and does not stain like sooo many other products currently on the market. OTF's Mender's Mud is a salve that lasts longer and can be applied less often than other remedies. This salve is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-microbial to target common hoof pathologies such as thrush, white line disease, seedy toe, and hoof wall separation. This salve works by expanding and drying to seal affected areas for 4-5 days allowing these areas to heal and have a break from mud and other agents that continue to re-infect weak areas of the hoof.
Active ingredients in this product include Copper Sulfate, Magnesium sulfate, and Tea tree oils which are paired with calcium bentonite, aloe, stone crop, and additional vegetable glycerols to achieve optimal absorpton.
For best results, this salve can be used one to three times a week during wet seasons and allow 5 minutes for the salve to dry and set. This is best if done on a flat, hard surface with a clean, dry hoof.
