Well, A few days ago I took myself to an Urgent Care Facility who immediately unered me to an eye specialist nearby.
All is under control now that I picked up new eye prescriptions. Recently, new diagnoses were added to my chronic eye conditions. Then the next day, my best eye became my worse one. It was extremely painful & very concerning for me & my doctors. I am relieved, however, to have switched my care.
I don't like talking about my worsening eyes because it's just soooo much going on with them. My low vision worsened so much that I'm now cross- training Seren, my Service Dog, to learn Guide Dog work. When my recent attack happened, it became very scary to not be able to see at all while home alone. That night, I created the art in response to how negative a handful of humans were of the day. Doing meditative art is an excellent way to navigate my feelings in order to keepmoving forward.
Seren is a smart furbaby & can now safely bring me from the kitchen to my bed in the back of the house. I'm very proud of the pup I rescued from an animal shelter almost 3 years ago. Hopefully, I'll never need her to again, but an ounce of prevention IS worth a pound of cure. Today we were back on city busses to pick up my prescriptions, so that's a good thing.
Last week, I was referred to and attended intro appointments at Prevention for the Blind in DC. It was personal & quite informative. According to them, adaptive equipment will be instrumental in me maintaining my independence. Sigh. It's a lot but I have a determination that will never quit. One day at a time, I will do all I can while I still can. That's how I roll. My mission to help dogs in need will not stop until my heart does.
