Tess yesterday practicing her reading which is a very new trick and I wouldn’t consider it “finished” as of yet. Still working on height. Next, I’ll teach her the cue from the saddle and Emerson has agreed to volunteer for the job. 😂.

Working on some rearing at liberty now with Tess. She’s so much lazier than Arty. Lol. I sure hope I can get that height we will need. She sure is pretty!

Been needing to train another rear horse and these are some still shots of me working with my four year, Tess. These are from day #2 and #3. Using positive reinforcement (fancy way of saying “treats”). She’s highly food motivated and will be disappointed when the treats go away but for now, she’s sure making good progress.

New horse!!! Look familiar???

Held off on sharing because I’m missing my girl, but after Boo’s owner reached out to me, it just seemed to make sense.

About a month ago, Boo’s owner, Carol, reached out to me saying she just found out she needed hand surgery and it would mean more time off for Boo. She knew that as a young horse already needing a job, that it would be an injustice to him. I was pretty surprised because it’s rare that people be so practical with their horses and not let emotions override good judgment.

Well, Brian needs a calf roping horse and I knew my mare Chili would be exactly what Carol needed. She is a great kids horse, mounted shooter, brood mare, trick horse and about as level headed as you can get. So, we made a trade!

Although I miss Chili, I am excited to be a part of Boo’s educational journey to being a “big boy.”

I’ll continue shooting training with him and he will also start learning how to be a calf roping horse for Brian.

He is also super handsome if I say so myself. 🥰
