Cats of the Homeward Bound Project We are a 501c3, non-profit organization that was founded in 2007. Homeward Bound rescues and vets cats and kittens in the Starkville, MS area.

We are entirely foster based and operated by volunteer veterinary students (with administrative supervision and some amazing volunteer medical caregivers). You can see our feline friends available for adoption at the Petco in Meridian, MS. If you need help finding a new furry friend or are interested in any of our babies, don't hesitate to contact us! Meet JOSH! 🥕

Josh is a precious orange boy with a huge personality and an even bigger heart! This sweet baby was raised by our rescue from a bottle, so he has grown up knowing just how wonderful people can be. Because of that, Josh is incredibly social, affectionate, and happiest when he is right in the middle of whatever you are doing.
Josh is a silly, playful little guy who brings joy everywhere he goes. One of his favorite things in the world is riding around on your shoulders like a tiny orange parrot, supervising your day and making sure he does not miss a single moment. Whether you are cleaning, relaxing, working, or just walking around the house, Josh wants to be included.
When he is not busy being your adorable little shadow, Josh loves to play, pounce, explore, and show off his goofy kitten energy. After all his adventures, he is just as happy to curl up for snuggles and soak up all the love he can get. Josh would be the perfect match for someone looking for a sweet, funny, people-loving kitten who wants to be your best friend every single day. He is ready to find a forever home that will love him just as much as he loves everyone he meets.

Meet Coral! 🪸

Coral is Sandy’s beautiful sister and another sweet baby from Violet’s color litter who is ready to find her forever family! She has been raised in foster care alongside Sandy, and while she is a little more independent than her brother, she is still incredibly sweet, playful, and full of kitten charm. Coral has a curious little personality and loves to explore, play, and show off her fun side.
Her absolute favorite thing is chasing feathers and feather toys around the house. She will leap, pounce, and zoom after them like it is her full-time job! Coral is the kind of kitten who can entertain herself, but she still enjoys love and attention when she is ready for snuggles. She would be a wonderful match for someone looking for a playful, sweet kitten with a confident little personality. Coral is ready to grow up in a home of her own where she can be loved, spoiled, and admired for the perfect little girl she is.

Meet SANDY! 🏝️

Sandy is one of the six precious kittens from Violet’s color litter, and this sweet boy is officially looking for his forever home! He has been growing up in a loving foster home with his sister, Coral, and he has quickly shown everyone that he is the social butterfly of the group. Sandy truly loves people and wants to be part of whatever you are doing. Whether he is chasing toys, playing with his sister, or climbing into your lap for snuggles, he is happiest when he is surrounded by love.
This little guy is extremely sweet, affectionate, and playful. He has such a soft, snuggly personality and would make the perfect companion for someone looking for a kitten who wants to be involved in their life. Mint has two main hobbies in life: eating and sleeping — and honestly, he excels at both. 💚🐾 This little guy is a certified professional napper who can fall asleep absolutely anywhere once playtime is over. But don’t let the sleepy face fool you… the second he hears food hit the bowl, he magically appears ready for dinner like it’s the most important event of the day.
When he’s not busy snacking or snoozing, Mint loves spending time playing with his mom and sister. Whether they’re chasing toys, wrestling around the room, or piling up together for a nap afterward, Mint is happiest when he’s with his little family.

Jasmine is the kind of kitten that turns every corner of the house into her own little playground. 🌸🐾 This playful girl is always on the move — climbing cat trees, exploring shelves, and finding the highest perch possible so she can supervise all the action.
When she’s not busy adventuring, Jasmine absolutely loves attention. Give her lots of pets and affection and her tiny purr motor starts rumbling instantly. She’s a sweet, loving kitten who thrives on playtime and cuddles equally.
And if there’s a laser pointer involved? Game over. Jasmine will chase that little red dot with Olympic-level dedication until she’s completely worn out and ready for a nap.

Meet WREN🪶

Wren may be a little wobbly, but she has absolutely no idea — and honestly, neither will you once you fall in love with her. 💕
This sweet girl is pure sunshine wrapped up in fur. Wren would be perfectly content spending every moment curled up in your lap, making biscuits, soaking up pets, and purring herself right to sleep. And when we say she purrs constantly… we mean CONSTANTLY. The motor starts the second she sees you and doesn’t stop until she’s passed out dreaming in your arms.
Her cerebellar hypoplasia gives her an adorable little wobble, but it never slows her down. Wren zooms across the house at full speed chasing toys, attacks her scratcher like a professional athlete, and somehow manages to turn every room into her personal stage. One of her cutest habits is making biscuits in the air so enthusiastically that it looks like she’s waving at you — as if she knows everyone is already obsessed with her.
And just in case you forgot she’s the star of the show, Wren will happily climb right onto your shoulders to remind you. She is silly, affectionate, endlessly entertaining, and overflowing with love. Wren isn’t looking for perfection — she’s looking for someone who sees how perfect she already is. 🐾✨

Smokey is proof that sometimes the sweetest souls just need a little chance to shine. 🩶
This beautiful young girl had a rough start in life and came to the rescue struggling with malnutrition, but once she finally felt safe, healthy, and loved, her personality absolutely blossomed. Now? Smokey is a happy, playful little rocket ship with the FASTEST zoomies you’ve ever seen. One minute she’s flying around the room at top speed, and the next she’s proudly perched on her scratching tree like queen of the house.
But when the sun goes down, Smokey turns into the ultimate cuddle bug. She loves curling up close at bedtime and being near her people as much as possible. And if you really want to win her heart, don’t forget the skin scratches — this girl is obsessed. Give her a good scratch and she’ll melt right into your hands.
Smokey has come so far from her difficult beginning, and now she’s ready for a forever home where she can spend her days playing, cuddling, and being someone’s loyal little best friend. Meet Violet -- the definition of beauty inside and out. 💜 This gorgeous long-haired mama has spent the last few months lovingly raising SIX kittens, and now that her babies are grown, it’s finally her turn to be cared for and spoiled the way she deserves.

Violet has the sweetest personality imaginable. The second she sees her person, her purr motor starts running. She’ll greet you at the door with soft little meows and gentle head bumps, ready for chin scratches, pets, and brushing sessions — all of her favorite things. She’s incredibly affectionate and so eager to love.

Despite how much she wants attention, Violet is still learning that indoor life is truly hers now. Because she came from life as a stray, she can sometimes seem unsure if she’s “allowed” on the couch or allowed to fully relax. But you can tell she wants to cuddle so badly, and with a little patience and reassurance, she blossoms more every single day. So far, she is absolutely loving the safety, comfort, and warmth of being an indoor cat.

Violet is looking for a kind, patient family who will continue showing her that she never has to survive on her own again — only be loved. 🐾✨

Meet Josie — the life of the party wrapped up in the sweetest little package. 💕

This young girl has never met a stranger. Whether it’s dogs, kids, or new friends walking through the door, Josie is right there to greet them with confidence and charm. She’s incredibly outgoing and thrives on attention — especially when it comes in the form of her favorite thing: b***y pats! Give her a few taps on her bum and she’ll flop over dramatically, rolling around and putting on a full performance just to keep the love coming.

Josie’s story has a brave chapter, too. In late 2025, she was hit by a car and suffered a pelvic injury. But you’d never know it now — she has made a full recovery and moves, plays, and loves life without a single sign of her past injury slowing her down. She’s resilient, strong, and ready to leave that chapter behind her for good.

Now, Josie is just looking for her happily ever after — a home where she can soak up all the attention, make new friends (furry and human alike), and continue being her joyful, silly self. If you’re looking for a social, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining companion, Josie is your girl. 🐾💗
