We love dogs that can chase birds all day, but a majority of the year they are hanging out with our young kids and enjoying farm and family life.

Having a good on/off switch is mandatory, and they must be able to remain calm in all situations like this morning at the office!

The duality of dogs.

These two could swim all day if you’d let them. They eagerly swam all morning while grabbing water marks, but the second they see you grab the hose and shampoo, you get zero eye contact or they head for the hills.

We started our business when we lived in southeast Iowa, near an old coal mining site with a creek running through it. Although "Coal Creek", the namesake of our business, is now hundreds of miles away from our Nebraska home, we chose to keep our name to remember where we got our start – a place we loved and called home for years.

We shared our story with our dear friend Brooke at Backroad Creative and she captured our brand perfectly! Brooke is always ready for a new project, even ones that require some coloring outside of the lines. We highly recommend working with her for logo development, branding, graphic design, photography and the like. Thanks again for your amazing work, Brooke!

We are gearing up for another weekend in the outdoors! 🦆

Last weekend, Dolly and Waylon each got individual hunting time on the creek, and we came home happy with birds both days. Although the dog that was left behind didn’t appreciate it, it was a good opportunity to work on skills with the dogs one at a time.

The Nebraska duck opener in our area is this coming weekend, and the dogs are ready to get back at it!

This was the highlight of our season last year. The dogs were running extremely well at this point in the season, and we had put a pattern together from previous hunts. Pretty cool when the training, scouting, and effort all pays off.

Unfortunately for us, the wetlands froze up soon after this, so this was our final duck hunt of the year. What a high note to end on.
