Saturday Spotlight: Sushi! 🐾

At 13 years old, Sushi came to AMCMA with some slight mobility issues. Her family thought she might simply be slowing down with age, but her radiographs revealed she had megacolon, a condition where the colon becomes severely enlarged and is no longer able to function properly.

Our team performed a subtotal colectomy surgery, removing the enlarged affected portion of her colon to give Sushi the best chance at returning to a more normal, comfortable life. 💙

Her story is a great reminder that changes in your pet’s behavior or mobility shouldn’t always be chalked up to getting older. Sometimes, they can be signs of an underlying condition that needs attention. Sushi is back home, recovered, and back to living her best life!

Did you know animals are experts at hiding signs of pain/illness? This instinct comes from their ancestors who learned to hide weakness to avoid becoming targets for predators.

That’s why annual exams are so important! Yearly visits allow us to monitor your pet’s overall health, catch potential problems early, and make sure they’re staying up to date on vaccines and preventive care. Even when your pet seems perfectly healthy, these visits can help detect subtle changes or health concerns before they become more serious.❤️

📅 Is your pet due for their annual wellness exam? Give us a call to schedule!

Don’t Skip Your Pet’s Heartworm Test! 🐾

Heartworm disease is spread by mosquitoes and can cause serious, potentially life-threatening damage to the heart, lungs, and blood vessels. Even pets who receive prevention need regular testing to make sure they remain protected.

Annual heartworm testing helps detect infection early, when treatment and management can be more successful. Keeping your pet on year-round prevention and staying up to date on testing is one of the best ways to protect them. 💙

Ask us about heartworm testing and prevention at your pet’s annual visit! ✔️

Sunday Spotlight: Meet Hayes & Julian! 😺
These brothers may have different personalities, but they have one thing in common: they’re completely obsessed with each other!

🐈‍⬛ Hayes is obsessed with socks and absolutely loves hanging out with his brother Julian.
🐈 Julian has a funny habit when playing with a new toy—he’ll hiss at it while he plays! And, of course, he’s just as obsessed with Hayes.

Two brothers, two silly personalities, and one very special bond.💙
