→ I could never get half naked on camera. Even if I did, I wouldn't look as good as the pictures I've seen.

I don't mean the one when you were 6 years old, I mean the one that came with butterfly belly overload and clammy hands. Felt like the world lived in your chest and might all explode at once because it was FINALLY HAPPENING.

"I have hated my body my entire life…I cover it, I hide it, never enjoyed it and was convinced others hated it and all my shortcomings as well. Which only was fed that my ex husband used it all against me. I then, get stage 4 terminal cancer diagnosis in Feb 2020 which made me loose it all the weight I had and all that is left is skin that hangs while all my bones are exposed.

But Monday (The day I took pictures), I felt safe. I felt seen. They didn’t just take pictures—they created a space where I could breathe, open up, and finally feel sexy for the first time ever.

It wasn’t about posing; it was about claiming a body I’ve spent years hating and disconnected and disassociated from. Im now celebrating being mass-free and proving everyone wrong, but, I don’t want to be resilient ever again because it was never a Choice - I was forcing into this life of pain so now I focus to break generational trauma for my 7 kids. Part of that trauma is break up with having to be strong all the time and embrace being a woman that is soft, feminine, and worthy. Add to that fact that Black women are very rarely seen as soft.

This shoot marked a stop on my “road to yellow.” It’s my personal journey back to joy, light, and life after so much darkness."

And it hates to see me coming...because I will obliterate it. No more home on your cheeks, at least not where it gets to be seen. Whether big or small, every bum has acne, b***y zits love em all. Can't blame em, but we don't have to LOOK at them either.

Maybe not in those exact words, but it happens almost every single time -

And it always looks different and the voice changes but the words have the same meaning.

It doesn't matter how old you are or how your story has gone, you're going to learn this simple truth: you're going to get emotional. We traded coming in when the street lamps clicked on to scrolling until we get headaches

What once was porch sitting and fireflies and Friday night pizza after the mall, playing mermaids and hands smelling like kick balls...somehow became living to work, worrying about bills even when they're already paid, just...growing up and forgetting who we are along the way.

I know you've probably assumed that my favorite clients are thin girlies with perky bo***es and who are really really good at arching.

Don't get me wrong, I really love those clients and I want to photograph you if that sounds like you! ♡ HOWEVER...my favorite clients aren't any physical type.

The ones finally using their PTO days after years of saving them for the proverbial, 'one day.'

My favorite client are the ones who feel so TIRED that they fall asleep the second they hit the pillow because they just spent the last 12 hours rushing around serving other people.

The nurses. The teachers. The moms. The retail workers. The paralegals. Therapists. The gas station workers. Engineers. Pharmacists. Massage Therapists. Estheticians. The regular people all around us all the time.
