On a related note, if we’re going to participate in the “Trade Up Game” at reptile expos, can we stop giving medically significant animals to kids? In an industry already plagued with misconceptions and myths masquerading as facts, do we really need the press event of a kid going to the hospital because they traded their way up from a paperclip to an envenomation? Not to mention the fact that chances are rare the kid in question even has an enclosure, food, and knowledge to care for whatever they end up with… what do you think we should do?

Happy Thanksgiving from Leaf Me Be!

Today we’re grateful for:
• Our customers: We appreciate your loyalty, time, support, and friendship. Thank you for the email updates on your animals, recommending us to your friends, the little gifts you bring or make us, and most importantly, your trust.
• Our fellow reptile show vendors: This community is a family- the way folks support one another is truly heartwarming. We are proud to vend next to you, laugh with you, cry with you, share lunch with you, loan you paper towels, borrow your cart, and see you every weekend.
• Our reptile show producers / coordinators / staff: Thanks for your hard work, flipping tables at 5am, the reposts and shares, putting us next to our friends, giving us bathroom breaks, and planning dinners.
• Our friends / family / dog: Thanks to everyone who understands that weekends are for work and we’ll call you back on the drive home Sunday. To Mary, who takes care of our princess of a dog. Our dog, Dolly, who is happy to welcome us home and cuddle after a long weekend away.
• All the little in-between things that make this life livable: hotels with good water pressure and luggage carts, shows that route us past a Buc-ee’s, restaurants that don’t mind a reservation for 12 turning into 35, late night gas stations with clean bathrooms, new flavors of energy drinks, oil change coupons, good travel weather, etc.

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving full of good food, surrounded by the people and animals you love! Stay grateful, stay weird, and leaf the world a little better than you found it. We’ll see you at the next show! 🐸🌿🦎💚

We were lucky enough to pick up this beautiful quartet of Epipedobates anthonyi ‘Santa Isabel’ from our friends at line and I knew they would be so happy in this Essentials enclosure! I added a background from .rocks and some live plants, hardscape elements, and of course an invert clean up crew… and I’m excited to see these little friends loving life! This video was taken an hour or so after being introduced to the enclosure- as you can see, they are quite bold and happy to use as much room as they’re given!
