Saw this photo posted on G & S Wicked Reptiles, LLC and it got me thinking.
Look at this image before you read another word. This image will make some people angry.
Not because it's wrong. Because it exposes a bias, we don't like seeing in ourselves.
If the figure is about to kill a dog, he's a monster. If the figure is about to kill a venomous snake, he is praised.
Same person. Same axe. Same action. The only thing that changed is your perception.
We claim every life is precious, until it's a life we've been taught to fear, hate, or see as disposable.
This isn't just about dogs and snakes. It's about people.
The uncomfortable reality is that most outrage isn't driven by principles. It's driven by emotion.
It means our moral compass is often influenced by our feelings before our reasoning ever gets involved.
The hardest truth isn't that people have opinions.
It's that most of us believe we're objective when we're anything but.
So, here's the question:
Did the image change... or did your mind?
If that question makes you uncomfortable, maybe that's exactly the point.
