Pumpkin Peanut Butter Fork-Pressed Crunchy Cookies for Dogs with Oat Flour and Egg
Ingredients:
* 1 cup (245 g) pumpkin purée (unsweetened, plain; not pie filling)
* 1/2 cup (125 g) natural peanut butter (xylitol-free, unsalted, smooth)
* 1 large egg (50 g, lightly beaten)
* 2 cups (240 g) oat flour (finely ground)
* 1–2 tbsp (15–30 ml) water (only if needed to adjust dough texture)
Supplements:
* None
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine pumpkin purée, peanut butter, and beaten egg. Stir until smooth and evenly blended.
3. Add oat flour gradually and mix until a soft but workable dough forms. If dough feels too dry or crumbly, add 1–2 tbsp (15–30 ml) water until it holds together.
4. Scoop about 1 tbsp (20 g) of dough and roll into small balls. Place on the prepared baking sheet and flatten gently with a fork to create the classic ridged pattern, about 1/3 inch (8 mm) thick.
5. Bake for 18–22 minutes until firm and lightly golden on the edges. For extra crunch, turn off the oven and let cookies dry inside with the door slightly open for 20 minutes.
6. Cool completely before serving. Texture should be crisp outside with a slightly firm interior.
Storage:
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Refrigerate up to 10 days for longer freshness. Freeze up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
Benefits:
* Pumpkin supports digestive health with gentle soluble fiber.
* Peanut butter (xylitol-free) provides healthy fats and protein for energy and palatability.
* Oat flour offers a wheat-free, easily digestible carbohydrate source suitable for many dogs with mild sensitivities.
Calorie Information:
Approx. 1,050 kcal per batch; approx. 65 kcal per cookie (assuming 16 medium cookies). Estimated using standard values for pumpkin, peanut butter, egg, and oat flour. For a 30 lb (14 kg) dog needing roughly 800–900 kcal/day, one cookie may represent a significant portion of the daily 10% treat allowance, so smaller portion sizes are recommended.
