We are rehoming our beautiful Ada girl. She's a talker, she LOVES kids & she's a Fawn Merle Great Dane. House broken & crate trained. She will be 4 years old in November.

I know this seems like common sense. But there's no harm in a friendly reminder. As many gear up for the hottest stretch of the season this weekend & into next week, it's important to check & double check your vehicle before leaving it unattended. Cars turn into ovens in a short amount of time. Anything living & breathing when you leave might not be when you get back.

Piggybacking off this, please keep your pets in mind in general. Outdoor pets can struggle in the heat & need shade & cold water more frequently. Watch those puppy paw pads, too. Asphalt gets really hot & can burn. Just a friendly FYI!

Scooby-Doo was designed as a "Great Dane" because the show's creators wanted a large, imposing dog that could also be goofy and lovable.

Why They Chose a Great Dane:
Contrast to the Mystery Theme– The original idea for Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! was a mystery-solving team, and they wanted a dog that looked like it could be brave and heroic, but instead, Scooby is a lovable coward. The contrast makes for great comedy!

Inspired by Marmaduke – The cartoonist Iwao Takamoto designed Scooby-Doo and based him on Great Dane standards—but purposely gave him "flaws" like a sloped back, bowed legs, and a goofy expression to make him more unique.

Big Dogs, Big Hearts– Great Danes are known for their gentle, affectionate nature, which fits Scooby’s personality. Despite being a "scaredy-cat," he is still loyal to Shaggy and his friends.

Memorable Appearance – The creators wanted a dog that would stand out. A large dog with a spotted coat (similar to Harlequin Danes) was a perfect fit for animation.

Even though Scooby’s design isn’t a perfect Great Dane, his size, floppy ears, deep bark, and playful personality all reflect real Danes!
