Monroe County CASA Program is saddened to share the news that our facility dog, Jordy, has unexpectedly passed away. He was surrounded by his family, who adored him immensely. The CASA family is devastated and heartbroken.

Jordy provided a special kind of support to children that humans couldn't, and he did it with his hugs, tricks, or simply being present to make children feel supported when they
needed it most. The Courthouse Facility Dog Program of Monroe County CASA
would not have been possible without our community's support and its recognition of how valuable this program is to the youth in our community. We will honor Jordy's legacy by continuing to fiercely advocate for this most vulnerable population in our community.

CASA extends its deepest gratitude to Dr. Grant Minnemeyer and the staff at Ridgeline Veterinary Services. Dr. Grant’s care and compassion for Jordy was incomparable.

We will miss Jordy terribly. He loved hiking in the sunshine and working with kids. He was such a good boy.

Sweetest pup, Molly B, paved the way for hundreds of courthouse dog programs, including Monroe County CASA. Offering our deepest condolences to Ellen, Celeste, and the Courthouse Dogs Foundation. πŸΎπŸ’”

August 4, 2007 – June 16, 2021

Today we celebrate the life of the amazing Molly B. Molly was bred and trained by Canine Companions. She was lovingly puppy raised by the Ranish family of Mountain View, California. We will be forever grateful to them for all the love and attention they poured into Molly (known then as Bene) during her early life.

Molly came to Courthouse Dogs in October 2009, when there were only four courthouse facility dogs working around the world. Today there are over 330 facility dogs working in the legal system, and Molly has been an important part of that growth.

About 2 weeks ago, Molly developed a fast-growing oral melanoma. It caused no pain, and she continued to be able to enjoy her food in true Lab fashion. Yesterday she died peacefully at home on her own bed, in the arms of the two people she loved best in the world – she always wanted us to stay together.

It's a new week and a new month, and I'm starting to get back at it! I spent the morning at the justice building with Tia brushing up on my skills!

I also got to see some of my friends at the CASA office this morning, and that made me REALLY happy!

I hope you're having a great Monday!
