Remember that this Sunday, April 27th is Blue Sunday 2025, the national day of recognition and prayer for children and families who have been victimized by abuse and those who serve them.

We can't wait to see how all of our local churches and faith-based communities celebrate Blue Sunday! If you share photos of any Blue Sunday events, please tag us to share. đź’™

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is done by a licensed mental health professional as an Experiential Therapy. This is one therapy offered here during counseling sessions. We do, at times, incorporate “rhythmic riding” where the client is on the horse while practicing other evidence-based therapeutic techniques to meet therapeutic goals. This is all dependent on the client’s therapeutic goals in counseling as to whether this is beneficial to the client. It is also a choice for the client as to whether they interact with horses or not during their counseling sessions.
We also utilize play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and person-centered talk therapy.

Mental health counseling sessions do not include horseback riding lessons or hippotherapy. We do not offer Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy at this facility.

🌍 Earth Day is an excellent opportunity to connect with nature and promote mental well-being. Here are several ways to use Earth Day to benefit your mental health:

🌍Spend Time Outdoors: Engage in activities like hiking, walking, or simply sitting in a park. Nature has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.

🌍Mindfulness in Nature: Practice mindfulness or meditation outdoors. Take a moment to focus on your surroundings, listen to the sounds of nature, and appreciate the beauty around you.

🌍Gardening: Planting flowers, vegetables, or trees can be therapeutic. Gardening allows you to connect with the earth and see the fruits of your labor grow over time.

🌍 Volunteer for Environmental Causes: Join or organize a local clean-up, tree-planting event, or conservation project. Helping the environment can foster a sense of community and purpose.

🌍 Participate in Earth Day Events: Many communities host events such as workshops, festivals, and educational programs. Engage with others who share your passion for the environment.

🌍 Limit Screen Time: Use Earth Day as an opportunity to disconnect from technology and social media, allowing yourself to recharge and connect with the physical world.

🌍 Practice Gratitude: Reflect on the beauty of the planet and the things you appreciate about nature. Keeping a gratitude journal can enhance your mood and outlook.

🌍 Create Art Inspired by Nature: Use Earth Day to express yourself through art, whether it’s painting, photography, or writing. Nature can be a powerful muse.

By incorporating these activities into your Earth Day celebrations, you can enhance your mental health while contributing positively to the environment.

Thanks Etowah County Commissioner Joey Statum for dropping by some goodies!

As a business in Southside that also relies on preserving our Farms and maintaining Ag-Zoned areas, I appreciate the emphasis on transparency, communication with citizens, and open door policies.

We try to stay quiet over here usually, and don’t usually do public events anymore. It keeps with the peacefulness and privacy for our clients, but it’s always nice when those in charge of decision-making for us in Southside and Etowah County take interest in local businesses.

**This is not an endorsement, only an appreciative post sharing information and encouraging those who do vote in the Southside elections to look at everyone running.**

Angela Sewell Counseling at The Barn is happy to sponsor a game for a great cause this Saturday!

If you have a team and nothing to do Saturday, I encourage you to sign up!

We have had so many people reach out asking how they can help this family. We have several ways you can help out.

1. We are looking for game sponsors to help cover the cost of a game. This is normally paid through gate fees and team entry fees but if we can get businesses or individuals to donate $100 it would cover the cost of a game and then that leaves us more to donate. If you choose this option, your name will be displayed on a sign at the entrance and on a field.

2. You can donate any amount you like.

3. Volunteer to run scoreboards. If you are interested in this option please message us here on Facebook messenger.

We are accepting these game sponsors until Thursday so we have time to get the signs made. We will accept donations until the end of the tournament on Saturday. That way we can get all donations to them immediately after the tournament.

This is the link to donate on our website

Children with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) or sensory integration challenges aren’t trying to be difficult. Their nervous system reacts differently to input. What feels neutral to us might feel like “too much” or “not enough” to them. Behavior is often a signal that their system is in overload or seeking regulation.

👪 Collaboration Tip :
- Consistent support across home and school is key. Use a shared sensory profile to:
- Identify preferred tools (weighted vest, visuals, headphones, etc.)
- Note triggers (e.g., fire drills, crowded lunchroom, scratchy chairs)
- Agree on calm-down plans or regulation breaks

Are you good at comparing your journey to someone else's? Do you monitor their social media pages to compare your life with their accomplishments and achievements? As Theodore Roosevelt said, "Comparison is the thief of joy," and I have found myself in this predicament quite a few times. So, how do we navigate comparison?
