What a week! 😂

We traded our spurs for wet suits and flippers as everything is now under water! Our creekside campsite was completely gone this week. But we still found a way to make it fun!

Teaching the kids how to race, popping their stirrups up into jockey mode and seeing who could last the time it would take to run the Kentucky Derby, on a barrel ;) Movies with brownies and ice cream, towel fights, nature walks in the rain, learning haircuts and practicing their show prep.

And what else do you do when your pasture is flooded and full of frogs, toads and tree frogs?! Obviously spend hours catching them and chasing eachother with them... that's just pure logic! Loads of fun games and races on horseback.

It was soggy... but boy was it fun 😁

We are back at it again! The long list of spring and summer projects we launched the past few weeks. This weekend we finished the creekside campsite! Just awaiting more panels for a larger corral.

The orchard was planted, along with the roadside barrier of lilac bushes and the beginnings of our Boulder barrier.

This week we finish cleaning up the main trails and cross country course in preparation for our Spring Break Horse Camp!
I've been loving the process of landscaping, all winter long we dreamed up exactly how we wanted everything to look, now to implement it!

Zephyr and Kodiak weeks 8 and 9. The days are just melding together at this point. With the storms and spring beginning we have been insanely busy so it's been a while since I've posted their updates!

After resting post Chiropractic, we started these two on the long process of regaining proper body carriage.

Kodiak has a much easier road ahead of him, with hollowed out shoulders and an unnaturally high head carriage. He is learning that it is okay to lower, relax and soften!

Where as Zephyr has hollowed out through her entire body due to years of improper riding and care. Dr. Coats refers to her as our banana 😅
So we begin with long lining in small amounts to build up the correct muscles. Backing exercises, poles and light hill walking.

2 more body scores to go, then ridden work may begin. I'm hopeful we will be there in the next 30 days or so!

These two will be available coming end of May and beyond!

The long awaited chiropractic care. Zephyr and Kodie thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Coats being here and are feeling so much better.

Zephyr had a lot of damage done to her body, (very similar to Aspen's recent injury) and now the physical therapy really begins.
Both ponies have a fantastic outlook for long term soundness.

We also got some long awaited news on Aspen.
For those that didn't know, we've been really going through tough times with him. An injury back in October led to the heart wrenching decision to retire him from the lesson string.
After months of consistent, intense therapy we got some very positive feedback on his follow-up.
He still has a lot of work ahead of him, but he is 90% better than he was a few months ago and we are very positive now that he will make a full recovery.

Thank you Dr. Coats for everything you've done for us and continue to do with our rehab horses, and our most prized ponies. ❤️
