Thank you to those who came out to support our charity and enjoy a night out at Texas Roadhouse. Our team received such amazing compassionate community partnership with this incredible team. Giving back to charity is such a conduit for action. The funds gathered allow organizations like ours to land a hand where we can. Here are just a few of the faces of those we hold close. We make whole. We walk home. Today. Tomorrow. Forever a Common Ground heart of hope.

Thank you for allowing us the honor of your acts of kindness that flow this way. Our hearts of hope thank you too.

Max wants to know if you know what is for dinner yet? He suggests stopping by the Texas Roadhouse in Kenosha between 3 and 10 to say hi to his foster momma and support his rescue so they can continue caring for him as he searches for his forever home.

His foster momma is also baking some treats (unfortunately for him not dog friendly treats) that you can pickup to add some more support to his people.

Can’t make it out? Come meet his friends at the Charity Carnival event Saturday June 28, 2025 at the Sandlots of Salem! (https://commonground-crn.org/charity-carnival/)

Grab your coffee, pull up a chair and sit yourself in the sun—we have a story to share today. A moment of compassionate humanity where unknown strangers come together only to find themselves leaving as friends. Dedicated time given with no personal vestment aside of pure humanitarian acts. This is Elsa’s rescue story.

Last Friday, June 13, our rescue received a call from a WI caseworker supporting a mother and her kids. A tragic situation was unfolding and this precious family of 8 had to move quickly. Their dog Elsa could not come and we were asked to intake her. Unfortunately we were unable to receive any photos or videos to assess prior to placing in a foster home. We always assess first. It keeps everyone safe. Fast forward and a friend of owner agreed to pick her up then hold her while we organized an assessment with a dog/people. Before we could secure, the handler picked her up and whisked her away in her car. Elsa was terrified to lose her family foundation so she urinated in their brand new car. So they simply pulled over and discarded Elsa in a park near her old home. No collar. No identification. No one to steward her. She cracked wide open. Full blown FLIGHT MODE. She ran and refused to come to anyone. Neighborhood cameras picked up her little body in shadows of nighttime canvassing. She was searching for her family. Her kids. Her everything. For 5 days we worked daily to find her. We placed posted, gave out flyers, worked with Kenosha residents who came out with support. Calls were made to give us updates of her movements.

Fast forward and enter Billy's Posse who came our way through the support of Lost Dogs of Wisconsin. These 2 organizations immediately jumped into action with calls, texts and acts of determination. Kaley was our beacon and lifeline. Dropped a trap with cameras within hours of connecting with our rescue. Worked with us and one house to establish our station with trap. Elsa did us a solid by walking in that very night ahead of the storms coming through today. She is STUNNING! Eyes that look clear into your soul. Sweet. Submissive. Kisses upon kisses. This is the dog who ran from anyone who called her name. Searching for her family only to find strangers. This is no random act but one designed by the hearts of angels. Elsa is safe because many stopped to care. To show up. To save.

Our girl is covered in an array of cuts, bruises and some wounds that need attention. She has been given a bath and found a place to welcome the sun today. You see she is restarting her journey tucked into our Common Ground embrace. The sun sets fire to her past so she can welcome a new future. One that will be her happily ever after.

Feel like being a part of her story? Donate today to help our team vet and heal this shining star. She has such miles to go before she’s done. Stay close as we introduce Elsa to our rescue family. Her foster family is ready to welcome her into their home to heal.

Thank you to the ones giving more than they receive in life. You are givers with a purpose that reshapes our communities. And propels our humanity.

Deep gratitude to those involved in this rescue: Kaley, Jenny, Natalie, Sarah, Bill, Chynna, Kristen, Sheila, Karen, Sue, Kaitlyn and foster momma Jessi. To the town of Kenosha WI we thank you for your parts in helping us secure this beautiful girl.

Welcome to our 7-week fire babies who made their way to us from one of our own. Thank you Denise for seeing 4 little lives seeking a second chance revival — and connecting them with our rescue embrace. Let us introduce you to:

đŸ”„ Mythical Fire-Themed Names with meanings that reflect their strong and vibrant energy. đŸ”„

Ember
A glowing piece of coal or wood from a fire — small but full of heat and potential.

Azara
Smokey fire or scarlet core who is beautiful and rare. A flame always begins with a small glow.

Seraphina
Inspired by the fiery angelic Seraphim — divine flame, celestial passion, and grace with power.

Nyra
A short, mysterious name that evokes glowing heat and intensity — radiant, bold, and alluring like a secret flame.

Stay tuned as we welcome this radiant set of pups. All females. 2 charcoal and 2 jet black. A perfect set of pups ready to begin again. This save is brought to you our foster momma Christy and her compassionate family. All the work happens in the arms of our Foster’s. Nothing begins without YOU.

Your support matters to the smallest of lives like these. Headed to the vet tomorrow so feel free to drop us a donation in honor of 4 souls fresh with hope. Thank you to all who brought these ripples our way.
