Recently , I posted a video on my YouTube channel regarding the aquarium hobby and conservation. The fish pictured in this post was one of the topics in the video. Skiffia multipunctata , Lago de Camecuaro is a species that no longer exists in the wild. Their one and only location was extirpated. Therefore , it is unlikely that these fish would be considered for re- introduction back into the wild. A follower on my channel asked , “ If these fish cannot be re-introduced back into the wild, then why maintain them in the hobby ?” I had to take a minute to absorb what they were asking. And then I replied , “Man chose to destroy their home, but we do not have the right to determine their existence. We failed these creatures by stripping away their home. Now, it is our calling to preserve those who have felt the wrath of progress ."
