Not every dog is meant to be an ESA, therapy dog, or service dog… and that’s exactly why temperament matters. ✨
While every puppy is special, these roles require more than being sweet and loved. They require emotional stability, confidence, resilience, a willingness to learn, human connection, and the ability to navigate the world calmly.
At Peach & Pawmetto, temperament is at the heart of everything we do. From the very beginning, we are observing who our puppies naturally are — how they respond, recover, engage, and connect. We intentionally hold back puppies who show exceptional temperament, confidence, and biddability because these qualities are the foundation of the future generations we are working so carefully to develop.
Temperament is both nature and nurture. Genetics give us the foundation, but our daily commitment helps shape each puppy’s potential. Through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), Early Scent Introduction (ESI), intentional handling, early socialization, and thoughtful desensitization to everyday sights and sounds, we help our puppies build confidence and adaptability from their earliest days.
Vacuum cleaners, grooming tools, household noises, new textures, different environments, new experiences — these small moments add up. They help create dogs who are better prepared to approach the world with curiosity instead of fear.
Our goal is not to promise that every puppy will become an ESA, therapy, or service dog — because not every dog is suited for those roles. Our goal is to consistently nurture stable, confident, people-focused companions and recognize the individuals who truly have the qualities needed for more specialized work.
Great dogs don’t happen by accident. They are the result of intentional pairings, thoughtful raising, and a commitment to protecting the temperaments we believe in. 🐾✨ www.PeachandPawmetto.com
