Hey all you animal lovers! We are Gritz and Boogie and we are the clinic cats here at Pelican Veterinary Hospital. Whenever you stop by you will see us out and about!

I’m Boogie and I am the old man who likes to nap at the front desk but if there is ever any food around I will be your best friend! I love to be brushed and sometimes to get some pets. In reality I’m just like Garfield, love to nap and eat!

My name is Gritz and I love to roam around the clinic and check on everyone as they are sitting in the rooms to give comfort and love while your furbaby is getting their exam done. I will also crawl into any personal bag or purse if given the opportunity but please keep me in the clinic. We love it here at Pelican and we hope you will too!

Hello! My name is Cassy and I work as a part time veterinary technician at Pelican Veterinary Hospital. I’ve only been at our clinic for about 8 months, but I have 10 years of experience in veterinary medicine. I am currently pursuing a bachelors degree in social work at the University of Southern Mississippi, but I love caring for animals so much that I can’t stay away! At home I have a sweet 2 year old border collie mix named Bebe and Buckwheat, my grumpy orange and white tabby cat. I’ve bottle raised kittens and puppies and fostered numerous cats over the years. My favorite thing about veterinary medicine is client education! I most enjoy working at Pelican Vet because all of the staff is so knowledgeable and caring. The doctors really love animals, and I know they treat each pet as their own! I hope to see you (but mostly your fur babies) soon!

Hi everyone! My name is Peyton, and I’m from Slidell, Louisiana.

I’m a high school intern at Pelican Vet Hospital and an aspiring veterinarian! I’ve been part of the Pelican team for a total of 1½ years — 1 year during my sophomore year and ½ a year so far during my senior year.

At home, I have three adorable pups:
• Lexi – a Pomeranian/Pug mix
• Riley – a Chihuahua mix
• Buddy – a Dachshund 🐶

My favorite part about working at Pelican Vet Hospital is working as a team to ensure patient welfare and client satisfaction (and of course, the animals being cute is a huge plus!). Surgery is definitely my number one favorite thing — I love getting to learn and be part of that experience.

I’m so thankful for the opportunity to grow, learn, and work alongside such an amazing team! 💙🐾

Hi everyone! My name is Dr. Maria. I’m originally from Sweden, but I now call Abita Springs home!

I’ve been in veterinary medicine for 20 years and graduated from LSU in 2006. I’ve been doing relief work at Pelican Vet Hospital every week since August 2025, and I’ve truly enjoyed being part of this wonderful team.

At home, I stay busy with my own little herd! I have 3 dogs, 3 horses, and a few sheep — animals have always been a huge part of my life both professionally and personally.

My favorite part about working at Pelican Vet Hospital is the friendly, caring staff and coworkers. It’s a place where good medicine is practiced every day, and there’s a genuine family feel that makes it special.

Hi everyone! My name is Richelle. I’m originally from the West Bank, but now I proudly call the Northshore home!

I’m a Veterinary Receptionist at Pelican Vet Hospital and have been in vet med — and part of the Pelican team — for 1 year. It has truly been such a rewarding experience!

At home, I have 3 dogs and 1 cat who keep life fun and full of love. 🐶🐶🐶🐱

My favorite part about working at Pelican Vet Hospital is my family here at work. We are an amazing group of people, and I feel so blessed to be a part of this team. Getting to know all of the fur babies and their owners has been such a special and meaningful experience in my life.
