Here's the notice that is in the Sota:http://earthskyweb.com/sota.pdf"NOTICENo Dogs AllowedThe Sisseton-Wahpeton Housing Authority, by unanimous Board approval on September 13,2010, did determine it is in the best interest of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Housing Authority to banishall dogs from all housing sites owned and operated by the Sisseton-Wahpeton housing Authority.This policy would go into effect on January 1, 2011, and would not apply to Seeing Eye Dogs.There have been too many incidents, altercations and vicious attacks caused by dogs in oursites. We understand the inconvenience this may cause some tenants but it is the Board’s positionthe incidents and altercations far outweigh the benefits. We apologize to the responsible tenants;however, we feel this is the best procedures to deal with the situation. Safety is our major concern.One vicious dog attack is too many.Therefore, if you are residing in properties owned and operated by the Sisseton-WahpetonHousing Authority (SWHA) this is official notification to remove your dog from our propertiesby December 31, 2010. Your dog does not have to be destroyed but it cannot remain on SWHAproperties. If dogs are not removed by the established policy date, legal action will commence at thetenant’s expense. Although extreme, legal action may include eviction procedures.In accordance with Chapter 54, Sections 54-03-01 through 54-03-03 of the Sisseton-WahpetonOyate’s Constitution and By-Laws, the Sisseton-Wahpeton Housing Authority maintains theauthority to capture, detain and deliver to, or notify the proper authorities of any untagged dog orproperly tagged dog found running at large in our housing sites, which is within the jurisdictionof the Lake Traverse Reservation. In the event the dog is found to be ferocious, vicious, or in adangerous disposition, the said proper authorities may destroy the dog.Thank you for your cooperation in this sensitive matter.Sisseton-Wahpeton Housing Authority
