🚨 Busy Season Reminder for Our Fabulous Feline Clients! 🚨

Our schedule is filling up FAST, and we want to make sure all of our furry babies stay looking and feeling their absolute best! ✂️🐾

Please keep in mind — if an appointment has to be canceled or rescheduled, it could potentially be up to a month before we’re able to get your baby back on the books and back on schedule. One of the biggest reasons we’ve seen for last-minute cancellations lately is expired or missing rabies vaccines. 😿

✔️ Before booking, please double check that your pet’s rabies vaccine is:
• Current
• Not expired
• Not close to expiring

In South Carolina, rabies vaccines are required by law, and unfortunately we cannot groom without proof of a current rabies vaccine. This is SUPER important for keeping your appointment! 💉🐱

✨ GOOD NEWS! ✨

Furwell at Barkingham will be hosting a Rabies Clinic on:
📅 June 6th
⏰ 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

💥 Rabies vaccines will be ONLY $5!
🍔 Food trucks
🎈 Kids activities
🐾 Fun for the whole family!

Take advantage of this awesome opportunity so we can keep your fur baby fresh, fluffy, and on schedule all season long! 🖤

Thank you all so much for your understanding and support — we can’t wait to see you and your babies soon!

The before, during and after grooming. This feline has been receiving routine grooming services from our establishment over an extended period of time. Unfortunately, due to a change in ownership and subsequent lapse in grooming, he has returned to our regular grooming schedule. We took care of his coat and got it back in pristine condition and got him back on a schedule! what a transformation!

Mr. Cat's transformation today is a testament to the power of skilled care. With matting, dandruff, and skin irritation, he was in need of some TLC, but with patience, expertise, and dedication, he was restored to his former glory, revealing the handsome fella he was meant to be.

Life gets busy—we totally get it! 🐾✨ But don’t worry, we’re here to help bring your fur baby back to their absolute best!

We recently had a client reach out about their sweet kitty who was extremely matted. They were certain a full shave would be the only option…

But we had to ask—if we could save that beautiful coat, would they want us to try? We always aim to avoid shaving unless it’s truly necessary. Some kitties don’t tolerate it well, and their coats play an important role in regulating body temperature (plus, we want them feeling confident, not hiding out!).

They gave us the green light—and we got to work! 💪

This little one came in fully matted from head to tail, but we knew we could turn things around. After lots of patience, care, and hard work…we brought that coat back to life! 🙌

Now they’re set up on a 6-week maintenance schedule to keep things healthy, happy, and mat-free going forward.

No matter your situation, please don’t hesitate to reach out. More often than not, we can restore your baby’s coat and get them on a routine that keeps them feeling their best.

And just so you know—we are 100% judgment-free. Always. ❤️ We’re here for you and your fur babies, every step of the way.

Now…get ready to fall in love with today’s before & after! 😍

When addressing matting in felines, two viable options exist: 1) safely and humanely removing mats or 2) shaving the cat into a lion cut. Mats can cause considerable distress, pulling tightly on the skin and potentially leading to pain, bruising, and skin conditions. Upon removal, evidence of previous attempts by owners to remove mats with scissors is often discovered, which is documented and discussed with the owners. More often than not, owners are shocked and remorseful, having unintentionally caused harm while attempting to cut out mats. Removing mats requires patience, care, and time from both the cat and the groomer. After the procedure, the cat may experience temporary soreness or tenderness, especially if they have pre-existing arthritis. Shaving a cat into a lion cut can be a traumatic experience for the animal. While some cats seem to adapt quickly, others appear embarrassed and hide. Whenever possible, dematting is recommended as a preferred option, and we work with owners to establish a regular grooming schedule to prevent future matting and maintain the cat's coat health and freedom from knots and tangles. A six-week schedule may seem excessive until you find that once-a-year grooming is far more expensive and stressful than a regular routine grooming. Why wouldn’t you want a clean happy cat more often than once a year?
