Hello Game of Bones loyal customers, family & friends!

I just wanted to thank each & every one of you for all the love, support, & prayers the last few months regarding Arya. She’s doing fantastic & is completely thriving post surgery! We haven’t noticed any seizure like activity since.

Arya’s weeks consist of Physical & Occupational Therapy at the CP Center in Green Bay. She’ll be starting swim lessons/therapy early November. She has Birth to 3 appointments, has had multiple MRI’s, Neurology/neurosurgery appointments at the Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee, rehabilitation appointments, eye appointments, etc… Arya is also on a waiting list for Hippotherapy at Exceptional Equestrians. She finally has her new AFO’s & SMO’s along with a new day time hand brace.

This all being said I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be taking a step back from my business for now. I WILL BE BACK. But, these last few months have taken a toll on all of us, with the 3-5 appointments per week plus travel hasn’t been easy… I need time to focus on my family, & my physical & mental health.

Thank you everyone for supporting my small business the last couple of years! I have A LOT of future plans & I’m looking forward to making them a reality once I have more time. 🖤

Arya’s Hemispherotomy Journey Update

Arya’s Neurosurgery team, Epilepsy team, Neurology team, Rehabilitation, PT, OT, & Speech were blown away with how well she has been doing that they all cleared her to go home yesterday. We were in complete shock seeing that initially they told us we’d have to be there for 10-14 days. Ben & I both thought it was a little early to go home, & we’re still full of mixed emotions about it, but I have a feeling as long as we keep Arya’s pain under control she’ll thrive! So far, she’s doing pretty good!… it’s been tough trying to get her content even with managing her pain. & even though they knew Arya was giving us a hard time & it’s been a complete nightmare trying to have her take ANY/ALL meds, they decided it was a good idea to give her more oral liquid medications that are deluded… 😳 Super irritating, not only for her, but for us too.

Seeing that we had no idea we were going to be discharged SO EARLY we don’t have any PT & OT appointments until next week. She’ll have quite a few follow up appointments coming up in the next few weeks/months. Luckily we were able to get one of her Rehabilitation appointments at the Appleton Clinic.

There’s still precautions we have to take & complications to look out for even a few months post surgery, so we’ll be keeping a close eye on her moving forward.

So far she’s been having a lot of outside time, walking, reading books, listening to music, rides in her little pink car, cuddling, & enjoyed a ride in the big girl car today. Grandma & Grandpa Groshek came over to visit & to drop off the dogs! She was so happy to see them all!

Thank you all for your love, support, & prayers!💜

Arya’s Hemispherotomy Journey Update!

Arya had a rough start to her morning & is getting so sick of having to take so many oral medications that she worked herself up & vomited everywhere. After cleaning her up & taking a long morning nap she felt MUCH better.

Arya ended up getting a quick brain MRI late this morning without sedation to check on the fluids, drain, & to make sure everything’s healing as it should! She’s a fu***ng rockstar & only needed a tight swaddle & Bluey to keep her distracted during the scan. After waiting what seemed to take FOREVER, Neuro told us that the images looked good & they decided that Arya was ready to get the EVD out.

While we waited for Neuro, Arya met with PT & OT & they are unbelievably happy with the progress she’s making & surprised with how much we’ve been trying to work with Arya during her recovery process. Speech came in & didn’t have any concerns besides trying to get her to drink more. Which is still a battle, but we were able to get her to start drinking blue Powerade & juice boxes that Uncle Jared & Aunt Brittany brought for her. I call that a win! PT, OT, & Speech will be coming back tomorrow to make sure everything still seems to be going well & to work with her some more. Hopefully she’ll be more cooperative now that she has her EVD out 🤞🏼

Neuro finally came in to take the EVD out. They gave Arya something to relax her, but they didn’t think it was necessary to numb her, so she had to get 4 or 5 staples out that were holding the drain in place & get the drain pulled out all without numbing… you’d think they’d have a better & less painful way of doing something so invasive, but apparently not… They couldn’t find the suture that held the drain in place after cutting it, & the suture they had already placed to close after removal broke, so they had to root around for that but couldn’t find it so they will need to look for it again tomorrow… They ended up having to restitch her again all while she’s crying & saying “sorry” & “all done” while spinal fluid was draining out of her head… it was VERY traumatic. Not only for poor Arya, but for us too. We werent quite sure what to expect, but it definitely wasn’t that. Let’s just say Ben & I were very emotional for a while after that & didn’t want to let her go. 😢

With that being said Arya is MUCH happier with the EVD out. She was able to go for a nice long wagon ride around the unit, & is now able to move around & sit up without having to constantly get the nurse to clamp the drain EVERY TIME we wanted to move her. She even had Uncle Jared & Auntie Brittany visit today & they will be coming back again tomorrow to visit some more!

Melody is still with Grandma & Grandpa Hebl & is complete angel. No words can describe how much we miss her, but we know she’s in good hands & is being well taken care of. Lucy & Daisy are at Grandma & Grandpa Groshek’s living the dream!

Like always, Arya’s a warrior & is beating the odds! It is the greatest honor to be Arya’s momma 🥹

Arya’s Hemispherotomy Journey Update!

Arya seems to be slowly getting better every day & doesn’t seem to be too uncomfortable as long as we keep up with her pain meds.

As of right now Arya’s seizures seem to be under control after her medication increase/change.

After finally getting a couple nights of good sleep it seems like Arya’s progressing VERY well & way better than expected. She’s having more awake/content periods, she ended up getting her drain pressure increased again today & not putting out as much fluid & seems to be handling it well, talking/saying a bunch of words, we can occasionally get her to smile/giggle, her personality is coming out more & more everyday, she’s eating very well, moving the left side of her body basically as much as she was before surgery, & she even walked about 50 feet today down the hallway holding hands.

Tomorrow morning Arya will get another MRI to make sure everything still seems good & will HOPEFULLY be able to get her EVD out. 🤞🏼

PT & OT will be coming in tomorrow to start working with her to get her up & moving a little more. Speech will be coming to do an assessment.

The only concern as of right now is that she hasn’t been drinking the greatest which has been a constant battle.

She enjoyed a wagon ride around the Neuro floor & loved seeing both grandparents & Melody.

Thank you everyone for the continued love, support, & prayers! 🥹💜

Arya’s Hemispherotomy Journey Update!

Arya is doing okay. We are finally out of the PICU & on the Neuro floor.

We ended up getting her MRI results back yesterday and talked with her neurosurgeons & they are confident at this point all the disconnections were made.

They also did some labs yesterday & they looked much better than they did the day before, so that’s a plus.

Arya was able to get her Catheter, Arterial Line, & a couple of the random IV’s taken out last night. She was able to get the last IV out of her foot today & her head wrap off as well. She still has the External Ventricular Drain in her head that will most likely be in all weekend & her PICC Line will remain in the rest of her stay.

Arya was having A LOT of very aggressive flinchy/jerk movements (which are most likely seizures) since yesterday starting at 1:24am. When we talked to Neuro yesterday about it they didn’t seem too concerned because there is still a section of the brain that infantile spasms originate from that remains intact and they said with those there can be almost a delay to those stopping (usually a couple weeks). But, with them getting SO MUCH worse & MORE often it started to become more concerning & they were able to come up with a game plan that seemed to help control them.

PT, OT, Speech, & Rehab came in today, but with Arya still not doing the greatest they figured they’d wait a couple more days to let her rest & recover.

Arya is now completely terrified of all the nurses & doctors coming in to check on her (WHICH IS CONSTANT)… She instantly cries & says “no” or “all done” or “don’t want” or “sorry”… not sure why she keeps saying “sorry” to them, but it’s completely breaking our hearts… 💔 We are trying our hardest to explain to her that all they’re trying to do is help, but she’s too young to understand.

With that being said, Arya is completely beating the odds & has been able to say some words, & is even able to move her left leg/arm. Arya never ceases to amaze us! She is such a warrior & a fighter! No words can describe how much we love her. 💜

She even got a visit from Grandma Hebl today! 🥹💜

Ben & I have been getting a lot of family & friends asking how they can help while Arya goes through her Epilepsy journey. My mom created a GoFundMe to try to help raise money so Ben & I won’t have to worry AS MUCH about bills, travel expenses, medical bills, & any other unexpected costs along the way! All the love, support, & prayers have been GREATLY appreciated & we’re thankful for each & every one of you 💜

For those of you who don’t know Arya’s story, she was diagnosed with Mild Spas… Tammy Groshek needs your support for Support Arya’s Journey to Seizure Freedom
