I highly suggest letting your spider crawl on you with your camera front facing or with a mirror so you can see them.
You do not have to get this comfortable with your spider but I feel that this is the best way to build quick & lasting trust.

In order for you to have a relationship with your spider, 2 different fears need to be conquered : yours of them, & theirs of you.
Your face is the closest they can get to you.
It’s how they can learn about us & what we are.
I let her crawl in my hair (mine is curly & crazy) she kept struggling to make her way through all my frizzy mess like “dang girl, you got some whack ass webs.” 🤣

I just wonder how they perceive us.
I had absolutely no makeup on because I was afraid of it bothering her!
That’s how considerate I am. 😂

They do tickle.
I love them. 💗🕷️🫶🏻

I moved my Momma Bryantae into Azalea's old palace that she barely got to enjoy. 🥲
Korah found this girl a couple months ago & we were so excited when we realized she was gravid. She is a frosty bold that most likely is producing all these beautiful Bryantae babies that have been popping up (I think).
Now that she's getting settled into a home, I need to find a name for her. I love her teal blue chels & her extra white fluff.
I love when Bryantae markings can make your spider a little more unique than the rest.

This momma just left her nest after guarding it for nearly a month. She rewarded herself with a mealworm.
I am about to separate her babies into their own cups. I am so excited to see what they all turn out like! These babies will be captive raised & very use to hands.

Ever since I started Eight by Kate, we have noticed we don't have so many jumpers ending up inside our home anymore. At one point we had so many that they popped up often & often wound up injured one way or another. It broke my heart. We've lived with them for the last 7 years & now we're finally seeing a decrease in how many show up in our home but we notice we don't have a bunch of bugs in or around our home but there are plenty outside. I think this is the evidence of them thriving outside on their own without an ongoing population issue.🤞🏻But who knows? This is just my best guess. My idea was caring for creatures I could share with others. I'm so happy I can do that; to send them to a good home to live a good life where they can experience love through care. 🖤
I appreciate you all!
Beautiful human beings love spiders. 🤍🕷️

I've had a difficult last few days.. Azalea passed away on Monday, July 6th. I'm heartbroken that I didn't have more time with her.

She had been acting different like something was going on with her. She was acting a lot older than what she should have been. I got her into her new palace & at first she explored quite a bit, but then I noticed she would just hang out on the bottom. She started making webbing all over the floor which is grandma behavior. Her last clutch was very small. I wish I had answers, but right now all I can do is grieve her & celebrate the time I had with her.

She was the sweetest spider I've come across & all her babies are growing up with the same sweet chill attitude. I'm thankful knowing that she didn't live out the rest of her life in a cup. She had a name, & a palace that was all hers. I remember how she looked around at her first enclosure when she first arrived.

She was immediately trusting with me. She would watch me each night that I stayed up feeding all her kids. She'd look down at all of them in their nursery cups like she knew where her babies were. I'd show her some of them. I never separated her from her last clutch. I let her stay with her babies as long as she wanted.
She was such a good momma. She would kill mealworms I brought for her & would only eat a little bit then save the rest for the babies. She was the best first momma I could have started out with. I'm so thankful for the last little clutch that she had.

The beauty of spiders is that they teach us that nothing is permanent; everything is a transition. They help us to embrace change. They help us learn how to slow down & take time to enjoy the small things. Because they don't live very long, they teach us to prioritize 'right now', the moment in front of you, so you can make sure you found space for them in your day; in your life. Their quiet presence is comforting when anything else may feel like too much. They reach us in an in-between space that we aren't always aware of. They help us redefine what we're really afraid of & what actually hurts. They help us find creative ways to celebrate them. They love being cared for & we care about being loved, so we make them a priority in the ways that matter most to us. 🖤

Look at this little creature of perfection.🖤This is #25 & she is one of my Regal Otiosus Hybrids listed for sale on MorphMarket. I got some awesome shots of her chels. I absolutely love catching them with their pedipalps over their eyes. She looks so much like her momma. 🖤🖤🖤

This is #37 she is one of my Hybrids that was just listed today! This was her first mealworm! She's only an i6 but I found some tiny mealworms at PetSmart that were the perfect size & length for an i6.
She did excellent! She grabbed it by the head, near the mouth but avoided bitable areas. She didn't have to wrestle with it & she stayed chill during the pounce. Her momma was the Otiosus & she also had the same chill demeanor. I think the babies are just so cute when they hunt. I love seeing their confident selves come out. 🖤🖤🖤

I got Siena in her own little house! She checked it out for awhile & has been exploring often. We celebrated with a mini mealworm later. I love Bryantae so much. Their colors are just so vivid & beautiful.

I have a few girls around the same instar that are listed with more to come! They are wild caught but the future babies that will be listed will be captive raised.

I cannot wait to pair her with Zero, my male Bryantae. Their babies will be soooo colorful. 🧡🩵🖤
