Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland, Inc., or Beagle MarylandTM, is a nonprofit organization founded in April 2001 and dedicated to saving beagles and placing them in loving homes. Our beagles come in as strays, from shelters, and as owner surrenders. Some come into rescue needing only current vaccinations, regular meals, and love; others may need extensive vetting, nutritional support, or even lif

esaving surgery before they are ready to be offered for adoption. We do all we can to help every beagle in need who crosses our path. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, current on required vaccinations, heartworm-negative (or successfully treated for pre-existing heartworm infection), and microchipped before they go to a permanent home. BRSM is operated completely by volunteers, and all of our dogs are fostered by volunteers in private homes (we do not have a shelter or kennel). Many of our beagles had unhappy lives before they came to us, and their well-being and quality of life is important to us. Toward that end, we require prospective adopters to submit an Adopter Profile, and dogs are placed in permanent homes that meet our Standards for Adoption. It is our goal to give our beagles the best opportunity to find loving forever families. We do our best to ensure that they are ready for their forever homes, and that those homes are well-prepared for their new family member.

Winston is still in need of a foster home. Winston came in as a stray and is currently in a shelter that is over capacity. We really need to get him out. Winston is 4 years old and a mere 21 lbs. He's a shy guy and will need to build his confidence and learn how to walk on a leash like a regal beagle. Perhaps he would benefit from the company of another friendly dog. This little Nugget is calling your name. Nugget is a 1 year old, 23 lb male beagle who landed in a full shelter as an owner surrender. His family who could no longer care for him and we know there's a foster home just waiting to help Nugget start a new life. Nugget is friendly, playful and a bit shy when he first meets people. He passed his shelter assessment with flying colors and would thrive in a home with lots of activity and beagle shenanigans. Roman is a 2 year old, 23 lb friendly guy who was originally adopted from BRSM and returned because of allergies. Roman needs a foster home to get himself out of a full shelter. He gets along with other dogs and did well with the family's female beagle warming up and getting to know her. He is partially potty trained and eager to please. A great little trouper who would be a great addition to any household. He's a bit shy with strangers. Please consider fostering Roman.
