🎆 The sounds of fireworks have already started around the area — a sure sign the 4th of July is coming soon! While this holiday is full of fun, family, and friends, it can also be a stressful and even dangerous time for pets.

Did you know that more pets go missing on or around the 4th of July than any other day of the year?

Noise and firework phobias are more common than many realize — but thankfully, they can be managed with a few simple steps.

💡 Here are some tips to help keep your furry loved ones safe this holiday:
✅ Keep pets indoors during peak fireworks hours
✅ Create a safe, quiet space for them
✅ Use background noise like a TV or fan
✅ Make sure ID tags and microchip info are up to date

If your pet has struggled with fireworks in the past, give us a call — we can help! Our veterinarians can discuss options, including medical therapies, to ease their anxiety this season.

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫!

☀️ This weekend is going to be a hot one! Make sure you’re taking steps to keep your pets safe in the heat.

🐾 Try to limit exercise to early mornings or late evenings, and be sure outdoor pets always have access to plenty of fresh water and shade.

💦 Does your pet have a favorite way to cool off in these temps? Some love splashing in the water, while others prefer to chill out in the air-conditioned house. Tell us — what does your pet prefer?

This is why we include lepto in our core vaccines!

This is why we include lepto in our core vaccines!

‼️Why We Strongly Recommend the Leptospirosis Vaccine‼️

Leptospirosis is a serious and potentially life-threatening disease that affects both animals and humans—making it what’s known as a zoonotic disease. It’s caused by bacteria found in the urine of infected animals and can be spread through contaminated water, soil, or direct contact with infected pets. Even dogs that live primarily indoors are at risk, especially after heavy rain or flooding.

Vaccination is one of the most effective ways to protect your dog—and your entire household—from this dangerous illness.

Recently, this hit close to home. Our own veterinarian, Dr. Jason Kennell, likely contracted leptospirosis from a contagious patient. He was hospitalized for five days, after battling symptoms for nearly a week. This has been a sobering reminder of just how real and serious this disease can be—not only for your pets but for the people who care for them.

We can’t stress enough how important it is to vaccinate. It’s a simple step that can prevent significant suffering for both pets and people.

Finally, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our wonderful clients who have been so patient and understanding while we adjusted schedules. Being down Dr. Jason and allowing his wife, Dr. Kaci, time to be by his side meant some changes in our daily operations—and your support has meant the world to our team.

Thank you for trusting us with your pets—and for being part of our extended clinic family. 💙💙🐈🐕
